((((MIchelle)))) My heart is so heavy for you, knowing how much you are missing your Mannie. He was such a strong, loving boy and I know how much you loved him. I will never forget all the pictures of Mannie and Nicholas and how Mannie came to love Nicholas as much as his mamabean.

You were the best mama ever to Mannie and I know he thanks you for giving him the best gift of all -- freedom from pain and suffering and allowing him to cross over with quiet dignity. I see him running freely outside, enjoying an endless field of nanners. Fly free, sweet Nanner King!

Michelle, my heart is breaking. I am so sorry that it was time for Mannie to go. Atticus and I were so grateful for his party feasts, and I know he made a lot of beans and kitties happy. We discovered nannners because of Mannie, and for that both Atticus and Miranda (as well as my parents' cat Mardi Gras) will be forever grateful. We are all holding him in our hearts. May he have a peaceful journey to his next adventure! Fly free, sweet boy.

{{{{{{{{{{MICHELLE}}}}}}}}}} In my heart, I knew this would happen. I prayed that he would recover, but I think he was done with it all, and gave you signs that he was ready to go home. I am so terribly sorry to hear of this sad news. He is so loved by us all. We all will miss him terribly as much as you will. Fly free, sweet, loving Mannie, fly free, and land softly.

Re: 4/18 Mannie - Fly forever free

    Dearest Michelle,

I've had to wait to post this because my heart was so heavy I felt numb. I started to cry when I saw Mannie's candle this morning. I knew his time to cross the bridge was coming and hoped that he would have his sun and some pleasure until the end. He told you when it was time, and you are a wonderful and selfless person to fulfill his wishes. Much as it hurt to do, there is a big relief in it. My Josie got sick very quickly with a fast cancer and when I visited this hospital when they called she'd gotten worse, I put my hand in her cage and she pulled herself forward and rested her chin on my hand and looked at me. That was all it took. I told her mommy would take all the pain away. oh crap I am crying again. I did find a relief in knowing she told me it was time, and I didn't have to agonize over it for very long at all. You did the same thing - you knew Mannie, you knew how to read him, and you were immediately there to hear his decision that it was time to cross the bridge. That is a huge gift to give to another creature. To be able to give.

I would like to thank you and Mannie for your wonderful friendship during our shared sugar dance with our wonderful trouble-making kittehs. You've shared Mannie and Nicholas so fully that we've come to care for all of you. Someone may ask, what is a cat? It's just a cat. Look how these cats brought us together, gave us the chance to love and share, let us open our hearts for the chance to be friends and to give and receive support. All just little furballs of love and rottenness. Of nanners and farts and bandits and rainbows. Our hearts wrapped around their furry little paws.

I told DH, I was glad that Mannie was able to celebrate Leo's OTJ. That sounds kind of weird and selfish, doesn't it? But then I thought, celebrations and parties are the goodness and joy in life, and it gave me a lot of joy to have you and Mannie at the party. To have Mannie make Leo's menu, to pick him up at the back door, to bring me espresso as my favorite little barista, the guy who got Leo hooked on nanners. Mannie's condo is where so many people visited everyday to hear of his adventures, beans and kittehs alike. I'd tell DH, "Leo and the gang are off with Mannie to go to the beach, grill up mice, hanging at the radiators .... this cat has better vacations than I do!" I would tell Leo, "Mannie is coming and you guys are going to Vegas!" Silly and fun, and we will really miss that. A lot. Fly free sweet and handsome, Mannie! You brought such fun and joy!

Mannie, dude, you are my best bud. I misses you already. I iz at the back door looking out. I know you won't come by to pick me up anymore, but all the kittehs over the rainbow gets to have a new barista and super fun organizer like we did. They is lucky kittehs for SURE! You are da BEST! I always think of you when I chew on my nanners and when I grill up fresh meeces. Meow, licks and rolling chew-bites ~Leo

Thank you for sharing Mannie with us, and letting us know and love him.
I can see him now, strong and healthy, running through sunbeams on soft green grass, jumping up to grab a 'nanner, hanging from the 'nanner tree.

Oh, he is in his glory now. He loves you so much, and is grateful for letting him go to that wondrous place, where the sun never stops shining, and the 'nanners are always fresh and he can make as many piles as he wants.

Michelle, I'm holding you in my heart.
    Much love

    Dear Michelle,
I couldn't write late last night, but my thoughts were with you all night long. Mannie's spirit is flying free and I know that his journey to the Bridge was for him an exciting new adventure--like a great zip line carrying him to a reunion with his GA pals and a new existence free of pain and illness. We will miss him greatly, but we know that he is safe, and that the best part of him is tucked away in that corner of your heart.

Your boy was so special, and because of him (and you!) Lantus Land is a place we look forward to visiting every day with our friends. I hope that Mannie's spirit will continue to infuse this place with love, laughter, and adventure. We will strive to carry on as best we can, to cherish our traditions, and to make our Mannie proud.

Fly free, sweet Mannie, on your beautiful new golden wings. You are much loved. wings_cat

    In deepest sympathy,

Ella & Edward, Rusty, and Stu (GA)

Yo Mannie, my pal. Thanks for all the great times. We kitties will never forget all the fun we had. Be safe and happy, my friend, until that day when we meet again,
    Love,
    Rusty

Welcome, my old friend, to the Bridge. "Two Chefs' Kitchen" will be opening soon, now that you are here. Everyone here is so excited. Please send your mamabean a message that all is well. Let's get going and plan our first menu. I am so happy to see you again.
    Your old friend,

What beautiful messages. It's so wonderful the amount of respect and LOVE you and Mannie have earned in this incredible community. My heart goes out to everyone here.

Michelle, Mannie traded a sick and failing body for a healthy and FREE spirit. May that spirit dwell in your heart forever. May he be close as that flick in the corner of your eye, may he be felt as that step on the foot of your bed. The heavens are a little brighter tonight as Mannies star shines forever.

    Peace,
    jeanne

Michelle, when I think of you and Mannie it always brings a smile to my face. I am reminded of your unfailing good cheer and kind support. When Mookie and I joined the Board I learned from you and Mannie that with FD Mookie wouldn't lose his playfulness or his sweet nature, nor would I lose the bond that he and I shared. More important, I could relax and enjoy my time with Mookie as I always had.

I understand the loss you are feeling. It brings me comfort -- as I hope it does you -- that the Mookster now has his good pal Mannfred Mannie as a companion.

    love,

Just got word of Mannie's crossing and tears are flowing here in KC with you over the loss of your sweet boy. You and Mannie both have been a shining example for so many in how the sugar dance must be done, and I know that Willie and I would not be where we are today without that example and your friendship. As hard as I know it must have been, your handling of his last days is the embodiment of the grace, compassion, strength and love that I can only pray will guide me when Willie's time comes.

We'll be lighting a candle for Sir Mannie, King of the Nanners tonight. Fly free and land softly, handsome boy.

    Sending love and hugs...

((((Michelle)))) Tears are flowing here in Ontario too... I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet Mannie. I haven't been on the board very long, but I could see instantly that you had a special bond with your Man and that you loved him unconditionally. He was so blessed to have such a sweet bean to take such amazing care of him every single day. My heart goes out to you in this difficult time.

    I’m Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me,
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day,
And within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near,
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart,
As long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight.
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach.
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around,
And the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
And you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
You can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
And you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep,
And the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

Re: 4/18 Mannie - Fly forever free, now at rest

Hello everyone - I am so touched and overwhelmed by all the posts for Mannie. I cannot thank you all enough, my LL family. I had just written this longgggggggggggggggg post to thank each one of you individually, and this darn computer crashed, I lost it all. somehow that seems fitting. ;-) Please do know that I hold each post close to my heart, each one of you were important as the other, I wish I could thank you all individually. I had so intended to do just that. I so miss my boy.

Today I laid Mannie to rest, in the back yard, in a spot that he loved, in NannerVile, a small suburb in MannieLand. It has rained all day today. relentless rains. At the moment that I put him to rest the rains just stopped, we had a brief moment of sun. I knew then that he had made it, that the Bridge had welcomed another traveler. It was his way of telling me that all was well, he was happy, whole, content. It was a moment I will not forget. The morning of his passing I asked him if it was time. He looked at me the best he could, closed his eyes, purred once and relaxed, It was then I knew for sure, and promised him I would be there for him, help him, let him go. He slept the rest of the day, peacefully. All was indeed well, Mannie said so.

Mannie's sister, Elsa, is doing well, and seems to be handling Mannie's passing OK. The pacing and anxiety she has been exhibiting over the past few weeks has ceased. She knew.... I asked her everyday to watch over her brother. She would sit a few feet from him, and watch, I'd find her in the same place when I got home. Another moment(s) i will not forget. What a wonderful kitty. she did indeed look after him when he could not. I am grateful that she too now seems to be OK.

Nicholas is handling all well too. He is only two, and how much of death can a two year old really understand, He knows Mannie was sick, that Mannie has gone to a good place, that Mannie is away, gone. He still looks for him to say hello, give out a few pets. Each time he looked, and could not find, he said "Man-NIE is hap-PY". Mannie good, Mannie OK. In time I hope he will truly understand what happened with Mannie, but for now his own thoughts that Mannie is happy is enough, wonderful in fact. Best buds forever. He always will be in his heart.

Thank you everyone. i'm sorry I lost my original post. I so wanted to say thank you on an individual basis. Guess I will just have to keep visiting everyone to make up for it. You guys are my family, my LL family, how could I not?

Fly free Mannie! look at all these wonderful posts. You were so loved.

I am glad to read that Elsa, Nicholas, you, and Mannie are all at peace. He was so loved --- is so loved. That Nicholas recognizes that Man-Nie is happy and OK brought tears to me eyes. Hey Nanner King! Since you've crossed over the rainbow bridge, does that mean all your nanners will be the rainbow striped ones? I hope so, because those are the prettiest ones.

I am so grateful that Mannie sent you a sign. Just as Mannie's photos reminded me so much of Bear Man, so does his final journey remind me of Bear's last days. I know that you will take comfort from the peace that he felt on his last day.

    Mannie! Dude!
Good work on the sunbeam! Sometimes when you watch your bean she will be sad, and the signs you send will help her. Other times she will think about you and smile because she remembers all the fun you had together.

Re: 4/18 Mannie - Fly forever free, now at rest

    Dear Michelle,
That sunbeam was the most wonderful way Mannie could let you know that he is safe and happy. Nicholas is a lucky little boy to have had the opportunity to form such a strong bond with an animal at such a young age. There will be many kitties and maybe doggies in his life, but Mannie will always be unique--his Number One.

Please take care of yourself and visit when you can.

Hugs to you and pats and scritches to Elsa, who helped you so much during these weeks,

    Love,

    Ella & Edward and Rusty

((((((Michelle))))) It gave me goosebumps and tears all at once to hear that Mannie sent you such a comforting sign to help you find peace <3 I hope thinking of all our guardian angels playing together in the sunshine can bring a smile to your face; I know it brings a smile to mine to think of them all without pain or discomfort and full of happiness and tons of energy :D

Be well and take care of yourself. You deserve some kind of award for being the best MamaBean a SugarKitteh could every want :D

    Dearest Michelle

I'm so glad that Mannie sent you a sunbeam to tell you he has arrived at the bridge, healthy and happy.
I was concerned about how Nicholas would respond....what a gentle and smart little guy he is. For now, he needs only to know that Mannie was sick, but is now happy again.
It's amazing how animals have empathy for one another, and Elsa knew Mannie was sick, and stayed near him.

Please take care of yourself, Michelle...we love you too, as well as our Mannie. :YMHUG:

That Mannie, he is some cat. Nothing but sunshine where he is, and he shares it, a little glimpse of heaven, with you. Peace, now, Mamabean. All is well. cat_pet_icon

Of course Mannie would send you a sunbeam. How could he not? He was always a ray of sunshine, twitching his nose in the sun and wind. He wants you to know he is ok. I was worried about Elsa, Nicholas, and you. I'm glad Elsa is doing ok. Big sisters worry and the other fur kids know when something is wrong. How sweet with Nicholas. He knew Mannie was sick and is just happy knowing Man-NIe is better. As for you, I am sending comforting vines. The hole in your heart is so big right now. Mannie is with BJ now and they are happy and free.

Big huge hugs and endless love from us. Mannie was a one of a kind guy and we will always hold a special place in our heart just for him. ((((Michelle))))

Not only was it wonderful that Mannie sent you a sign but even more wonderful was that you were so attuned to him that you listened. You listened when he was ready to cross and you listened yesterday.

    Thinking of you. [IMG]

Re: 4/18 Mannie - Fly forever free, now at rest - Thank you

Hello everyone! I wanted to take a minute tonight to thank all of you for supporting Mannie, for caring, for taking time here to acknowledge his passing. I so wish I could respond to each and every one of you, I so want to.... I am still so overwhelmed by the number of responses. You guys are the best, and have made such a difference in my ability to fill a void in my heart! The void is huge, the sadness is incredible. The memories of Mannie are ten-fold. Thank you everyone for being there for us.

We are all doing OK. Elsa seems to be fine, and we have been giving her a little extra attention. She's always been a keep to herself kitty, so it's difficult to know how affected she is. I find her though spending a little more time with me, so I expect she does miss Mannie. Or maybe she just sense my sadness and is doing what she can to comfort. She still sleeps with me, on my pillow, comes to bed when I do, gets up when I do. once she satisfied all is well, off she goes to do Elsa things. She has taken over the nanners, too. well some of them. Nothing will ever compare to the way Mannie loved those nanners. He lived and breathed nanners. :D What a memory that is... a good one.

Nicholas has adjusted well. He's only two, and as I have said before, I really don't think he totally understands what has happened, As with most two year olds he lives in the moment, and right now he knows Mannie is away, gone, and doing OK. For him that all means Mannie is happy, and he's good with that. He still sometimes looks for him. As with most two year olds he spend a few minutes looking and then is on to something else. In a way it has helped that when Mannie was so sick Nicholas knew he was, and tried very hard to let him be, so he could rest. His not being with him all the time then has made it a little easier to accept that he's now gone. In time I think he will understand.

And me? hanging in there. I have wonderful memories of Mannie. I always will. Time will heal the void, the ache, allowing for focus where it should be: one one heckuva cat that I am so honored to have had the pleasure of caring for. I still plan on being active with the board, the best that I can. I owe you guys alot, and so want to return what I have received. Thank you all for being who you are. You guys Rock!

Take care, and see ya around. :D

Just saw this, Michelle, and I wanted to send many hugs. I know how hard it is to help them go, when all we want is for them to stay.

What a good bean you have been! I know he's bragging about you to all his buds (including Kitty Kosmo) at the Bridge. Flying free. :YMHUG:
