10/31 Shadow -Happy One Year Anniversary OTJ

Today is our One Year OTJ Anniversary. flip_cat

We made it.

Our world is mostly good.
Shadow is still entertained a bit by the cat's meow toy. Nothing to report , everything is sailing smoothly at this moment.
I am going to go get her some crab to celebrate her special day today.

It is also my DH's bday. We have been doing birthday stuff all week.
I made crawfish enchiladas con queso last night. I made him a carrot cake on sunday. and he has a baskin robbins cake today.
We will go to Pappadeaux's on Saturday.


I have something like a cold. (very snuffly- especially when I lay down)

This week has been stressed out with my mother/grandmother situation.
My mother fell numerous times this past week and no one can lift her so they wind up calling the fire dept.
She fell and hit her head on Monday, gashed herself and they called 911 and she's is now in hospital.
She was in CCU but they moved her down to a CDU ( clinical decision unit)
Her breathing is difficult. She isn't cooperating and saying weird things. She had hypoxia when she got there but she has improved.
She called 911 this morning from her hospital bed and reported that she had been kidnapped. :roll:
She does stuff like that which makes them label her crazy.
She is just in her own little world and hates hospitals so she acts out when she is in one.

My grandmother is stuck at home.... can't drive ( can't see well enough, license just expired, and it's raining today) so she can't go visit.
They are both frightened that someone will come and take them away to a nursing home.
My mother should be in one but won't go voluntarily.

We were about to jump in car when we thought my mother might not make it but everything has stabilized for now. So we stay home.
It's a 13 hour drive and they won't want me around with a respiratory illness.
We wait to make such a trip when things are really dire.
Unfortunately my grandmother doesn't have anyone to drive her or help her in any way at the moment.

I'm so sorry for all you are dealing with .. Both of my grandma's need to be in nursing homes and like your mother, won't go voluntarily .. It is a hard situation to be in so you have my sympathies .. :YMHUG:

Well I'll start with the good. Thank you so much for visiting us and for the great pumpkin picture yesterday. Happy anniversary, that is so great. Now, Happy Birthday to DH. My birthdays usually last a week too. I hope he is enjoying it.
So sorry to hear about Mom and Grandmom. That has gotta be so hard. I sure hope they can make mom feel better and more secure.

Sounds like you have lots of good news mixed in with some bad. That's alot on your plate either way.
Hope your Mom is doing better, and someone is looking in on DGM.

I'm so sorry about the troubles your mom and gran are having, Rhiannon. I hope mom is a little better today. It must be hard on your gran, to not have anybody to drive her, where she needs/wants, to go.

 

:lol: it was 95 pieces of candy for trick or treaters...

it was just one snow crab cluster for Shadow.... and my dd took a couple of legs.... and we gave my DH the leg with the claw on it.
So Shadow got about 3 legs plus the attachment piece... ( I hate that part even tho' it's full of meat)


My DM is still in hospital but doing better.
My DGM is having a lot of ups and downs.... every emotion.... and occasionally thinks no one cares..... even tho' we talk to her several times a day.... time is meaningless to her and she thinks she is going a whole day without anyone calling.
They might fly me down there to just be with her... she's very lost...and frustrated with being trapped at home. It will cost over $1000
just to go be company ....
hopefully I will get into dr early tomorrow and get antibiotics for my sinus infection.

 

Oh carp...you still have the crud. I'm sorry.

Can Shadow eat all that without teeth...don't know how she does it. Is it okay to have all those little shell pieces. I think I am depriving my kitties.
About the most special they get is boiled natural chicken breast and on occasion, tuna juice. Maybe they would like a crab cluster?
I am not sure Hank would know what to do with it...and my civvie is not food motivated whatsoever and would probably walk right by it.


Well, sounds like you are still up to your ears. At least DM is doing a little better. I feel bad for DGM..and sort of understand. I sometimes feel like that too..
It's hard being on your own. Wish there was at least a neighbor or someone to come check in on things under the circumstances.
Not sure where she is but probably there are services that would come take her on errands at least.
Hope you feel better.

I am staring at Southwest Airlines right now....

oh where to land? Austin is closest.... dallas is easier than Houston.... and Houston is just hard.... takes the same amount of time
to drive thru as it does to just go to Dallas.

What are they doing in College Station? Are you from there?

I just googled and it is almost exactly the same number of miles from Houston/Hobby or ABIA/Austin. One was 102 the other 106.

Hobby is on SE side of Houston and CS is Northwest of Houston. so you have to drive across the city and go out 290W.
If you flew to Austin the airport is on the SE side of town but then you continue east. You are already on the outskirts.
Google says it is going to take you either 1:44 or 1:48 minutes. ..literally 4 minutes apart. (longer from Austin- lol)

Dallas is not even in the ballpark. Add an extra hour at least, or more. I hate driving in Dallas just as much.

Neither are bad drives- get whichever is cheapest.
Why would it be $1000..even for last minute that seems crazy.
