Happy Fursday. Sending many good OTJ wishes for those on trial and healing vines for those in need.

LBG has been so playful and funny this morning. She is becoming quite the little purr box kitten and mama got major headbutts. She and Tobes had a great wrestling match this morning and they both looked to be having a very good time of it. She's on the 7th cycle of her reduction and her numbers are just so-so but lower today than they have been. We just want to see what she can do on this dose. She got really low on the higher dose and didn't want to come up; even though we have an in-between dose, there isn't much difference between where we are now, the in-between dose, and the higher dose so we'll just see if patience pays off.

We haven't been around because we've been spending time with Gussie and trying to assess his QOL with an open mind. He's not been eating well the last few days; he just seems weak and weary. He gets up to use the LB, to drink (a lot), and maybe have a bite of food. We spoke with the AC yesterday and she said he is ready to go.....he's just feeling very weak although not in any pain. We also had a long talk with Dr. B and we agree this is not related to his kidneys. He is not exhibiting any end-stage renal disease symptoms. It appears to be intestinal whether advanced IBD or lymphoma but now I'm seriously wondering if it is lymphoma as it appears to be more upper small intestine than large intestine. He no longer wants his weekly Reiki/chiro sessions with Dr. G. He's been a bit more fidgety on some days with his squids and he's never been like that. The AC said he's just letting us know that he no longer needs these things. So today, no meds, no fluids, only love and peace. Dr. B and Dr. G are coming at 6:30 tonight to help us assist him on his next journey. We are heartbroken.....in his heart, he is still a kitten and we can tell he still wants to be here and participate but his poor little body is just wasting now and he just doesn't have the energy.

I will likely post a condo for him tonight to say our goodbyes.

My sister fell and hurt her knee and so she didn't come. She is very sad about that because she is very close to Gus and was crying very hard this morning. I think no kitty ever touched as many lives or has been as well loved by so many as Gussie. o o

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about Gus. It is always so sad when the young ones don't get a chance to live a full life. How sweet that your vet will come to your house and help Gus transition in a cozy, peaceful environment. Sending warm thoughts to you and yours.... and blessings to your little fur angel.

I'm grateful that you and Mike can be together to help Gussie cross to the rainbow bridge. What wonderful beans you are! I will be lighting a candle as well to help with his journey. I read your post with great sadness. You're so fine-tuned to Gus on many levels, and you and he have been preparing each other for his transition for some time now. If there was any alternative you'd do it, and if Gus wanted to stay, you'd know. You're giving him the greatest gift, his freedom, when he's asking you for help. How wonderful your vets will help Gus pass in his favorite place, that will ease his journey and you all as well. Cherish the day, you'll be in my thoughts & prayers this evening, with fires lit. I'm so sorry to see this post. I know how much your kitties mean to you and you've always been the best mama ever, always doing whatever needs to be done to make their lives completely wonderful. I know you'll miss Gus terribly, but, once again, you think only of what's best for him and you're making the hardest decision to ensure he's where he needs to be. I'll be thinking of you tonight. Gus is one lucky cat to have had you and Mike.

We are beginning to wonder if all this water drinking is possibly elevated BG due to the pred. At any rate, we are not going to find out. Today is all about him having nothing but peace, comfort, love. No meds....nothing. Only those things he wants and loves.

Dear Marje, I am so sorry to read about your little Gus. I can see that he has had a wonderful life, and that you have done everything possible for him. He will cross the bridge knowing he was loved. It's been nine months since my Kisa crossed, and I'm still mourning him, so I know you will be sad for a while, but rejoice that you can give him this gift of a peaceful transition, with love and comfort as he goes. So sorry to hear of Gus's decision that it's time to leave you, but you're a wonderful mamabean and are listening to his wishes. Of course he doesn't want to leave, but it looks like he knows it's his time to cross over.

All of Lantus Land will be thinking of you and Gussie tonight when it's time to make his final journey. You're totally right..today is about anything he wants..food, warmth, love and pets...all the things we all want for ours during their last days with us.

If we could take some of the pain you're going to feel away, you know we would. They come into our lives, bring us such joy (as well as the occasional exasperation) and leave us all too soon, taking a chunk of our heart, our souls, with them.

Thank you all so much for your wishes, thoughts, prayers, support. We've just been sitting outside with Gus letting him sniff the breeze, watch the birds, and just be. We let HIM decide when he was ready to come in. Oh I wish this weren't the time but we know it is and I think he is thanking us for loving him enough to let him go. I can just feel it in every kiss and every purr.

Marje I"m so sorry it's time for Gus. Sometimes I hate that the kindest thing we can do it help them to the bridge.

You are so in tune with your kitties and I'm sure you didn't need the AC to know what Gus was telling you, but it's awesome that we beans have ACs to help communicate the gap and be certain. it pains me to be lighting Butthead's candle again, and especially for a fellow foldie. But in a strange way, it's a comfort to know that they'll be with each other at the Bridge, and the physical connection we are losing on earth is created anew there.

I do not think I can post a condo for him tonight. I want to say so much about how wonderful life has been with him and I know I will not be able to hold it together. So that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Iz Bob, and I just wanted to tell you that iz not so bad here at all on the other side of the bridge. I haf made some great new friends that have not been here for too long. Like Wheezer, and Checkers and Samwise and so many others. I haf met so many that I can't even remember all of their names right now. And all of them are so healthy and haf fun and we can eat anything we wanna eat all day long if we want. The only sad part is looking down and seeing all our beans who are so sad and cry a lot and we jus wanna tell them not to cry becuz this is so good of a place for us to be. No more dierbeetees, no more hurts, no more feelin old or anything.
All mei life my beans wud say that I had the cutest butt ever, but I efen met one kitty named Mannie the other day? And my butt's got nuffin on that one! I am pretty sure that right now, I am the cutest kitty on this side of the bridge, even if I do say so myself. But now, I am thinking that with you coming to see us tonight that I will now haf to say I am the second cutest kitty over the rainbow.

I hope you can tell your beans not to be sad for too long. That they were the best beans ever in the whole world, and that you could not ever find better ones no matter how long you looked or how hard you tried. And wen you get here, we will all try to send rainbows to all the beans so that they will not be so sad or cry too much.

I will be right on the other side of the bridge waiting to meet you Gussie.

Oh, Marge, Mike, Gracie & Tobey, I have no words that will ease your pain, wish I did. Know that your son & big brother will be going to a lovely place where he will be young and pain free and the sky is blue and the clouds big and puffy. He is old, he has had the good life, it's time, but yet it isn't. It is so very hard to let such a good old friend go but it is with love and kindness that you have to. It doesn't make it any easier, I know. I am dropping alligator tears all over the keyboard as I secretly loved Gus, especially when under the Christmas tree. Fly free sweet boy. Hope you get to meet my two sweet babies that are recent residents, they will make such good friends for you and show you the way, please look for them and tell them how much I love them and I miss them so very much.

Thank you all so much.

He is gone...he is free and at peace. It was quick....he was ready. We will never be ready to not have his kisses and he had the best in the world but we know he is with us always.

I know he is meeting Bob and Tashie and Bo and Mannie and Checkers and, of course, his own sisters Teddi Bear and Sitka and bubba Maxie. All rejoined again....our four very special babies who all loved each other so much.

Marje, I am so very sorry.... I know how much this hurts you and Mike. I wish you strength, compassion and much love as you help Gussie cross. These decisions are never easy for any of us beans. May peace be with you. Fly free Gussie. There are so many of us here that will miss you, always remember you.

Maury's Number's this AM was 147 AMPS and no shot last night his BG was 127 at PMPS +9. I don't know if I should give him a shot this AM. Any help?

I am so sad to read of the loss of your sweet Gussie. I don't post much but I read. I did not want to see this. Our time with our fur babies is just not long enough no matter how long we have with them. I often wonder why we put ourselves through this agony over and over again and then I think of the story that Cheryl often refers to "Why We Choose Tears" and I remember.

I hope you can find some comfort and peace in knowing what a wonderful and happy life Gussie had and that you had real quality time together before he had to leave. I'm sure he was very grateful as he always trusted you to do the right thing for him and his trust was well earned.
