    Yesterday's "I'm Awake! I'm Awake!" Condo

Okay, very funny. Now someone please switch the cat back. It's obvious to me that this is not my Cinco. I don't know if an alien has come to earth and taken possession of his body, or what, but this is not my cat!!! Another beeooootiful, green surf? Are you kidding me????? Yeah, baby!!

I was so glad that my DH works from home on Mondays, 'cause when I saw that +2.5 I was really concerned we were in for another dive, and I could not cancel Sasha's appointment. Luckily, DH was able to test while I was gone, and even more luckily, Cinco is surfing. Green. Surfing green. Wow. I don't know what's going on, but I sure do like it! :thumbup

I took Sasha to UCD this morning for her pre-chemo evaluation. They said they would need her 3-4 hours and sent me home. I stopped on the way to wash my absolutely filthy car, and while I was there the oncologist, Dr. S, called. She said that the chest x-ray was clear - no cancer! :D :D :D She said all but one test of the bloodwork was back, and all looks good. :D Kidneys are fine :D , so as long as that last test is good, she wanted to go ahead with the treatment. I said fine. Then she told me something that about knocked me off the bench I was sitting on. She said the chest x-ray revealed two small bones in her upper back that are fractured!!  She said they went back and looked at the last x-ray they took, at the completion of her radiation therapy, and they were not broken then. She asked about a fall or rough wrestling, and I told her no on both. Sasha has jumped down a couple of times from a counter or something and landed hard, but there has never been any sign that she was hurt. I asked if we could have done it by picking her up wrong (it's a little awkward to try to grasp a cat missing a front leg). She said no, they wouldn't break that easily. She said she'll show them to me when I go back to get her this afternoon. Since then I've been wracking my brain, trying to figure out what happened. I'm so afraid it was something I did when trying to get a pill in her, or when I grabbed her as she tried to get away from me during an aloe rub down! I have such a terrible short term memory that I cannot recall an incident where we saw her fall. Of course, she could have done it when we weren't there to see it, but she had given no indication of being in pain. I'm driving myself crazy about this and am very anxious to talk to the doctor some more and see the x-ray. Geez? What next?!!! Wait, don't answer that!

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and Elise's DM. Also for J.D. & Dyana.
Hooray for Cairo on the last day of OTJ Trial!!! Parteeeeeee!! :D

    Go Cinco!

I'm sorry to hear about the fractured bones in Sasha's back. I hope they'll heal quickly and they aren't bothering her. It's great to hear her tests are so good. When will she actually start the chemo if the last test is good? I thought it was today.

Sending prayers and hugs. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Hey Cinco!! We had fun today out in the lagoon...sorry I had to leave a little early though...had to get ready for Cairo's OTJ party tonight and well, you know how us girls are! See you at the party! ~ China

Alien abduction huh? Well, now that's a possibility  Wonder if they'll bring the "old Cinco" back?

WOW on the news on Sasha! GREAT news that her lungs are clear and kidneys are good, but I'm sure it was a big shock to hear she had the broken bones! I'm sure it's nothing you did....You're too good a mamabean. I also have to wonder if these really are "new" breaks....if you're not specifically looking for stuff like that, you might not seen it, so I guess it's also possible that even if she'd had prior x-rays, unless they were looking, your regular vets may not have seen it.

Hopefully they'll be able to give you more information when you have a chance to talk to them.

At least it's sounding like trying the chemo is going to be the right choice...it sounds like it's going to give her the best chance of beating the cancer completely. Sending lots of vines her way and hope she comes though the chemo great!

Thanks for stopping by, Carla and Chris.

Just got home with Sasha. The last test was good, so they did the chemo. Dr. S. said it was highly unlikely that anything we did to Sasha caused the fractures (unless we beat her or dropped her, which we haven't!). She thought it was much more likely that she tried to jump somewhere, like from the cat condo to Mark's armoire, and missed. She said they should heal on their own and not to worry, but just to be aware of them when handling her. She doesn't expect bad side effects from the chemo, but gave me some Ondansetron in case she is nauseous and/or doesn't want to eat. She said that shouldn't happen - if it happens at all - for 2-3 days. She goes back in one week for bloodwork to see if the dosage is right, then next treatment is the 30th. I made both appointments for the afternoon, so I don't have to get up with the chickens again.

Chris, they did look back at all the x-rays they took during radiation treatment, and there was no sign of the breaks then, so they must have happened since. I'm glad it doesn't seem to bother her. She's got enough to deal with, poor baby.

I'm on pins and needles, waiting for PMPS. Maybe I should have gotten a +11, just to see where we are. If he's too low, I won't go to bowling with Mark. Of course, having a mid blue or higher PS doesn't preclude a drop, with this strange cat that looks like Cinco! The problem is I can't set Otto up for him - he can't get to the food with the e-collar on! I guess I could just leave several plates around where he hangs out, so he can eat if he starts to drop. His appy was pretty awesome today - ate everything we gave him with enthusiasm. So he'd probably polish it all off in the first hour!  We'll be shooting 30 minutes early, so I'll know soon. Paws crossed. I really want to go tonight - they have these awesome deep-fried pretzel bites (they just dip them in the hot oil for about 30-45 seconds to crisp them), sprinkled with garlic powder and seasoned salt, which I find highly addictive. The summer season ended three weeks ago, and tonight starts winter league. I've been in major withdrawl for the darned things and it'll just kill me if I can't go. Mark will bring some home, but they're best fresh out of the fryer.

    BBL.

I'm glad Sasha's first treatment went well and they were able to give her the chemo. I'm glad the fractures don't seem to be that serious. I hope they heal quickly.

Hopefully Cinco will let you get out tonight.

Gorgeous green surf for Cinco, and wow on Sasha's fractures! Poor girl...I bet it did happen during the time she was adjusting to her new leg "format". Sending prayers that she has absolutely no side effects from the chemo...awesome report about her chest being clear!! Have great evening, Tricia...once again, you more than earned it!!

Great news on Sasha's tests! :D :D :D That is strange about the broken bones. I hope they heal nicely. And look at Cinco!   Yep, that's him all right.

What a day you've had. I'm glad Sasha's results were so good. Wow on the broken bones. My cats jump and miss all the time. I never even thought about broken bones from it.

You could always take Cinco bowling with you. He'd like pretzel bites, I bet.

Lots of vines to Sasha tonight!

Shelly, I don't think pretzels are low carb. Garlic is out for sure.

Amy, Liz and Carla, looks like Cinco gave me a permission slip to leave, but I'm still nervous in case he decides to take a dip, anyway. nailbite_smile I left lots of food out, and he was still eating when we left. I won't be happy till I get home and check on them both. But I'll be full! Mmmmmm!

My tablet keyboard is being flakey, so I'll bail out and update when I get home and you all are fast asleep!

You're such a fun killer!

Hope Cinco behaves while you're out. It is nice that he's letting you go, even if you won't bring him back a pretzel. ;-)

Looks like Cinco is practicing for tryouts for the Surf Team!   Good boy! And nice of him to give you a break tonight to go bowling and get some pretzel bites. I've seriously put on some extra carb weight since Eddie's diagnosis. Late nights = looking for things to much on, and those garlic pretzel bites sound awfully delicious right now! :D

What a good report on Sasha, although I'm sure it was distressing to hear about the fractures. Glad you got the good news that the doctors expect the fractures to heal on their own. Sending feel good vines for Sasha, and fingers crossed for no side effects.

Looking good Cinco. Wee bouncy tonight, but pretty sweet kitty  :D
I'm on board that the adjustment to the leg was a likely time for the break. Poor Sasha girl. Heal steady vines headed her way as well as chemo vines. Hoping she has no ill side affects.
Hugs to you and scritches to the kitties!

Wow Cinco! He likes the color green

Great news on Sasha but sorry about the broken bones. Yowza. But I can imagine a cat jumping down and doing that.

With the exception of the bone ishmues...so happy that everything went so well for Sasha!

And Cinco my friend, you think you could pick Skooter up tomorrow night if you are gonna make a trip to the lagoon? Just don't take him too far out, k?

Sorry to be such a downer, Shelly.

Thanks for the visits and good wishes, Jen, Kim, Marje, Deanna and Molly. I was most pleased to come home and find Cinco had spent the evening munching hot dogs on the shore with China. Amazingly, he was still hungry enough to eat the Evo 95% turkey and chicken I offered him!

Sasha was hiding in the closet, but I think it was more because we left the windows open and there was a strong, cool breeze blowing. She had only the little, frayed sock-sweater on over her bare skin, so I put a t-shirt on her and she seemed much happier. She ate a nice amount of the Evo for me, too. She's currently occupying as much of my side of the bed as her little body can cover (which is a surprisingly large amount), while DH slumbers alongside and Minka warms his feet. I'll be joining them shortly, but I need to give Cino one more eye drop and I want to test one more time before bed.

The pretzel bites were fabulous - probably more because it'd been so long since I had some! I ate too many, as usual. You would think a woman of my advanced years would have learned self-control at some point, but apparently not. At least, not where garlic pretzel bites are concerned!   BTW, I had a nice green salad first! I do have a little common sense...but just a little. ;-)
