Two possibilities. It could have been a bad test. Any time you get a number that is unusual, retest to make sure it is accurate. If it was accurate, I think you need to reduce the dose a little, Matt. You have been giving .75 on your lower tests, which is great.

Tonight, you are bound to have a high number. But I wouldn't give more than .75

I did she test twice at the low number this morning. Also she hadn't gone number 2 in two days.. seems like bowl moments are not everyday like they were on all dry food.

Well she probably should be going every day. You could consider giving her 1/8 of a teaspoon of Miralax 2 times per day to help her regulate. Once she is, then you can decrease to once a day and then not at all.

Hi Matt. I have wondered that myself. I kinda doubt it though. The ACTIVITY it promotes might cause a rise. I know Tucker's #'s go up after a play session, or a moth hunt.
You are doing a super great job Matt!! I just stopped by to see how Tabby was doing, and it's fantastic you have her in such generally low numbers and at low doses too!
Didn't think you had it in ya, did ya? Just a month ago you wouldn't have believed this!
    EXCELLENT JOB.

    Matt-

I just stopped by to take a peek at Tabby's SS since I remembered that you and I were learning about all of this at about the same time. Noticed you got a GREEN last night! Way to go Tabby! Looks like your sugar kitty is making great progress! Nice job!

Say Matt, just wondering if Tabby's BMs have improved? The pumpkin really seems to help at our house, but I also learned alot from this site

BJM sent it to you earlier. It's got alot of great information. I am soooo glad I read it when I did...2 days later I had an 'emergency" and it guided me through it like a champ.
Good going on that greenie last night!

I have noticed with Bubba, that when I let him go outside to "hunt" and get some exercise by walking along the fields, his numbers are better! Exercise is important to lowering BG. Whenever I give him catnip, he is complacent and it is like he is stoned, so he is not as active. You will have to test him before and after a catnip session and see how she is.

I would hold off on upping the dose (but wait for one of the experts here to chime in since I'm still learning) just because last night Tabby went from 292 to 78 which is a HUGE drop. Did you get a number this morning? I'm thinking that you're getting some big responses from the dose you're on and increasing it could make Tabby drop too low. Overall the trend looks like it's going in the right direction with the dose you're using.

Whoa! Djamila is right...that's a pretty big drop! I know you work a ton (and trust me when I say I get that!) but do you think you could maybe get a curve this Sunday? Tabby's numbers are heading down...and with that +4 I'm wondering if it was an early nadir or if she actually went lower. A curve can help tell us what this dose is doing and maybe help figure out if it needs to change.

And I do have recorded numbers but my link to my sheet for some reason won't update and sue has been tring so hard to figure out out. I can copy and paste it on here later for everyone to see that may work at least for now

I'd like to see you get a nadir but beyond that, whatever you can get. Every 3 hours would be better, but if you can't I understand. Trust me...I know how it is when you have just one day off a week!

I know technology can be a beast! If you want to just let us know your numbers til you can get that worked out, it should be fine. :)

I think this is a good plan. She is in good ranges and often throws you a lower number. It'd be nice to see a full cycle, every 3 hours.

I think she is gradually coming down - throwing some strange numbers now and then - but on a good downward trend. The trick is to continue working with her levels, with the first goal of keeping her safe, as you are gone so much.

I know it can get discouraging, but you have done a great job juggling a demanding schedule with a diabetic cat.

We can't see it. Go back to your copy and on the upper right hand side, choose "Share with Anyone who has this link".

I sent you an email asking for access. Not sure I can get it in your signature but maybe I can tell you how to do it.

That's works, Matt. I'll send you instructions for adding it to your signature.

She looks good to me, Matt. Those yellow preshots are right in the regulated range. She doesn't seem to drop a whole lot for nadir. If you were around more and could monitor her, I'd might suggest upping the dose a smidge. Maybe next weekend or the first night you can catch a test at +5-7, try 1.25 for the pinks. Maybe stay at 1 for the yellows?

The choice now is to have her in good safe ranges where her pancreas can heal or to push and try to get her lower. I am very reluctant to have you push when you can't be around to watch her.

I think Sue is spot on. It'd be nice to push and try to get her in lower ranges, but if you can't be there to watch (and we understand that) it'd be good to be cautious. When you CAN monitor...that's when you want to try to bring her down so she'll be in healing ranges!

Yea with my work schedule makes it hard . When she has been 200-220 preshot times I have been dropping to .75 because I'm scared she will go go. So should I keep her at 1 unit in the yellow and 1.25 when she is in the 300's or pink or what color that is. That one day she came down to like 64 scared me so I'm nervous now

I'd do that when you can monitor. This weekend maybe or overnight. Just so you can be there to see where she goes and steer her if she goes too low. I'm not saying she WILL...but changing doses when you can monitor is best. Also, that will help us see what's going on with the new dose.

Hey Matt, I'm not sure what to tell you about dose for 200's. I will tag @Robin&BB ,maybe she can weigh in and help you decide about the dose.

Matt, can you monitor her tonight some if you were to increase her dose slightly?

Because if you can't, I'd be more inclined to just have you hold her at the current dose - at least until you can run a curve on your day off. (Which I know is a drag, because you only have only day off per week, but getting a full curve on Tabby will really help you to see how she's processing the insulin throughout a 12-hour cycle.)

Looks like tabby is coming into purple numbers in the am and pm preshot now. See chart for details. As I am wondering if the insulin is not lasting as long now.
