2/22 My Tribute Video for Gracie

We are so thankful for all the love, support, sympathy, and empathy we’ve received since Gracie’s crossing. It’s been almost 3 months now

Carolyn did the fantastic and wonderful video linked in my signature block to celebrate Gracie and give her an OTJ party. That video is so very precious to us. I just felt the need to do a video from me to Gracie.

Grief comes in stages. I made it through denial pretty quickly since our lives changed so drastically. I tried to barter with the powers that be for well over a month and that got me nowhere. I’m now stuck in the angry (sometimes very angry) and also the very sad stage. I’m not angry at Gracie...I never could be. But I had to find a way to channel the anger and sadness and so I did this video. Sorry some of the photos are blurry. The music is not that uplifting but it’s just where I’m at right now. And I obviously didn't make the title slide as long as I should have but it says "For My Baby Girl...I Will Love You Through All Time...And I Will Never Get Over You".

Please know, dear friends, that I am not asking for more sympathy or empathy. We’ve all lost a baby....whether sugar baby, civvie, drooler, bunny (sweet Meg) and we all have our own pain that we just have to deal with on our own. So many of us have lost our sugar babies in the last couple of years. And I grieve with each of you because our bonds with our little diabetic kitties are so very strong. There is nothing special about my grief and pain. It is just mine and it’s what we all have to go through, sadly, at some point.

I’d love for those of you who played such an important part in Gracie’s life to remember her for this moment, and those who barely knew her or didn’t know her at all to have a glimpse of the amazing essence of her. She was something else.

We will be honored if you have a few minutes to watch and we understand if you don’t. I could have posted this in the Grief forum but this is our home and you all have been our family for over five years.....five years of FD annifursaries, five years of her birthdays, five years of the 12 Days of Catmus, innumerable Lupita Fridays, and the early days when I drove everyone crazy. Thank you all for sharing our journey.

So here she is in all her inimitable, unforgettable, crazy baby, Lil Stinka glory. I miss you, my LBG.

I so enjoyed watching this. Your little Gracie was so cute, I wanted to squeeze her in that little sweater. I loved the Christmas poses near the nativity set, and the bird watching on tv! You really have a wonderful collection of photos of her, I always think you can never have too many. Thank you for sharing this beautiful montage...I am new here so I haven't known about Gracie for very long, but this really captures what a little princess she was...too cute for words.

{{{Marje, Mike, Tobey}}} I agree, you can never have too many photos. What a beautiful collection. The closest I got to Gracie was hearing her mrrp? over the phone, but through you I feel I knew her quite well. We all still miss LBG so much.

Beautiful... simply beautiful.

 

There are certain kitties who not only leave their indelible paw prints on the hearts of their caregivers but on the hearts of many of us. Gracie's personality was too big for any of us who hold you both dear to ever forget her.

I came across this quote from one of the feeds I get. I added it to my signature because it touched me deeply. I hope it gives you the comfort it gave me: "Cats never completely leave you. They side step time, shrug off death - come at the call of memory their beauty undiminished, their touch as gentle, their love perpetual."

 

@Josie & Ripley (GA) she loved you. How lucky you were to get her precious head butts.

@Marycatmom ((Mary)) such a loving and faithful friend you have been over the last ten+ years and I thank you especially the last few months. You know firsthand about those Kinross cats and how special they are.

@Jill & Alex (GA) she thrived because of all you taught us. My forever gratitude for all your help...words cannot express.

@Sienne and Gabby (GA) thank you so much, my friend, for sharing that in the midst of your own grief.

Marje this was just beautiful!!! Gracie shined with pure love around her in all your wonderful pictures. What a loving perfect life you gave Gracie and she was one lucky lady to have such a family like yours. I know she is looking over you and sending soft purr hugs to you! That same love lump and oneness I felt with you when I first read your story of losing her and then again each time I watched the beautiful OTJ video that Carolyn made, are here with me again as I write this. You song selections are perfect also. You and she are one, always will be. There will be no heaven without her for you. She will be there. She is with you and Mike and Tobey this very moment in all the beauty and glory of her loving and lovable spirit. And for all of us who no longer have our gone away angels to hold, they are waiting. The ache of missing them is indescribable but the joy of having shared their lives with them and been both givers and receivers of love with them is priceless. This video is just exquisite, Marje. What else could it be?
We love you Marj and Gracie! And the words don'teven come close to what springs from the depths of our hearts, as the empathetic tears of sharing your loss blurr this page. You have "known" me for several years. You know I am rarely at a loss for words. That video almost did it to me.

Crying like a baby here, but that's okay. Tears are a good thing. The video is perfect. The music is perfect. Uplifting? Yeah actually it was. Perfect song selection, because it speaks your heart. I know fully well that it really hurt when you lost Gussie. Just like when I lost Mullet. But to lose Gracie? Yeah, like losing Bob. We grieve for all of them, but some are nearly unbearable. The kind of loss that rips your heart right out of your chest, and no matter what you do, or how much time passes, you feel like you'll never find a way to get your heart back where it belongs. Look at me, more than 2 years have passed and "I still ain't right". I understand your anger. And you are correct, there is nothing "special about your grief and pain", nor mine. Because everyone who is reading this has been there, or will be there at some point in their lives. But I think that is what makes all of us special, you know? I'd rather know what that kind of grief feels like than to never experience it.

Thank you for sharing this, Marje. The love you feel is palpable in this video. I feel honored to have been able to watch it. And honored to have known your little baby girl.

"And I Will Never Get Over You" I'm thinking that there isn't a kitty across the bridge who doesn't wish that their humans feel, and will always feel that way. Gracie knows that because she's still linked to your heart, and will be forever.

Wow. Marje that was beautiful. I hope it was therapeutic for you, making it. Gracie's personality shone through in every photo, as did your love for her. We all miss her very special brand of regal charm, which came through so clearly in your condos.

My heart aches for you and with you. She was a very precious gift. Thank you for sharing her with us.

 

I never got to know Gracie... I very much wish I had.
You can see how much she not only loved you but that she trusted you beyond understanding.
Her body language/ her complete freedom in her own body with the expressions of complete trust and devotion is undeniable.
I have no doubt she misses you as much as you are missing her, being a cat of course she has the ability to have a "paw" in both worlds.
When you feel the brush of her paw or the tickle of her whiskers.... know she is just a breath away.

@Vicki and Jerry oh we were the lucky ones to experience that amazing little spirit but I know she was also lucky. She was supposed to go to a breeder in CA but a tiny misalignment in her jaw (which never bothered her) stopped that. We often thought if she had gone to the breeder, she would have never made it with the diabetes, etc. Who knows where she might have ended up. It was fate that she be with us.

@Chris & China it’s been a tearful day for me and I am so sorry I made it one for you as well. Whenever a kitty here would cross and the CG would say to “hold tight to your babies”, I did. But I also know I took for granted that she would be here because I couldn’t face the alternative. Take your time; hold tight to China, and I pray you will have many, many, many healthy years with her.

@Woodsywife she actually didn’t like it and that’s why she had her eyes closed or squinted in a lot of the photos. She tolerated me always snapping pictures of her. She just couldn’t help her extreme photogeneticity. (Is that even a word?)

@Carl & Polly & Bob (GA) you always have said the right thing to me at the right time. I know your heart will forever ache for Bob. Thank you for putting it out there to me for this lovely, heart felt post.

@Tricia & Cinco & Harvey sweet friend.....thank you....as you also go through unbearable grief. My heart also aches for and with you in your losses.

@jayla-n-Drevon One of the most wonderful things Linda (the AC) told me that Gracie said to her was that she trusted me. I felt, in the end, that I somehow was not worthy of that trust but maybe the trust was also that I would make the right decision for her at the right time. Linda also told me that Gracie very much misses being here and that she loved her time with us....it was the best. I do hear her tiny meows and feel her little paws kneading my legs at night. I hold onto the thread of her being only a breath away.

As I was watching kept thinking...wow, that's my favorite picture and then seconds later...oh wait, no that's my favorite! Had to turn the sound off though as my eyes can't take much more crying these days I hope and pray your days get easier some how, some way.

I did not spend a lot of time in FDMB for a while after losing Smokey. It hurt too much and it was hard to watch all those she walked the sugar walk with following her across the bridge. But the very thing that made it hard to be here is also why it is the best place to be. We all come to love all these kitties. I often find myself saying "I know a kitty who..." It might be an FDMB kitty and I might never have met that kitty, but I know that kitty!

I keep fogging up my glasses and having to clean them . I think I needed that too... cathartic.... and now I can't stop crying.
I wish I knew how to make a video for Shadow....

She ( both yours and mine) left HUGE impressions on our heart in such a short time......
Gracie was indeed a Princepessa. I felt it when I met her.

I didn't realize that she too did the sexy leg.... always draped in some odd form..... I love the leg drape.... there were quite a few pictures with that.
I always had to kiss that foot.....oh... who am i kidding..... all the feet.....
I agree with the sentiment that heaven has to have our best friends there .... or it won't be heaven.

I share your anger.....feeling robbed of more time..... not that any amount is enough.... that's why we have to be reunited.....
my image of heaven - since I can't imagine being outside of time - is like taking how you feel at the best moments....
almost as if you are asleep but conscious at the same time.... with your forehead or fingers.... or body... touching/cradling, embracing those we love
like a snapshot laying on a table ...... and it happens forever.
I had moments like that with my children....and with Shadow too....... napping together...paw carresses, sleeping and just enjoying the fleeting moment.....
heaven has to be like that moment but it never ends.....
I really hope so.....

I would make a video for Shadow for you if you sent pictures and music selections but, as you can see, my talents no where approach Carolyn’s. The only thing that is difficult is knowing which words and which pictures must go together and that’s kind of a personal thing. But I could always do it in draft and you could tell me how to move things around. I could have taken more time with Gracie’s in filtering and lighting different photos but there was also the sense that I wanted them to be exactly as everything was at that moment....lighting, for example. Of course, I wish I hadn’t blurred a lot of them.

"I believe that love will live on and never leave!" from the song at 4:27 . . . it's so true. The love and bond you and Gracie shared was special and it will outlast her passing. You were both blessed with it. I don't think we ever "get over" the loss of one we have loved so deeply, but rather at some point we simply learn to live with it because we have no choice.

So many pictures . . . I remember many of them along the past 5 years. I always loved her stink-eye pictures! hahahaha what a sweet little soul who was very good at expressing her inner feelings.

I sit here remembering what would have been Captain Donovan's 20th birthday. I was blessed to have him for 15 years, but losing him was so unexpected and sudden. Their time with us is never long enough. I can only imagine how robbed you feel... but I also know how lucky we are that you shared her journey with us. I feel like I knew her, though we never met in person.

You and LBG came to FDMB a year after we did, and we had that foldie bond in common. My little Piglet and your Tobey are even half-brothers, and Piglet is the spitting image of your sweet Gussie.

I couldn't watch, it will take a little bit of time to take it all in, it was a new experience for me being new to the board having a kitty cross, my tears fell as soon as I saw that she had crossed the bridge, Gracie will forever be a memory for me in her crown and a love to behold. Aww, Marje, this is just beautiful. There are so many great photos that show her adorableness. What a character Gracie was with a big personality wrapped up in that little ball of fur. It made me smile to see how tiny she really was. I think of her as much larger because in my mind she had to be big to have that much spunk! (((Carolyn))) it is not nearly as artistic as yours but it's just her......and me. She was tiny but it was so funny because she had this big plush ruff of fur between her collar bone and chest so she always looked like she was puffing out her chest as if to say so there!!! Her dad was long haired and I always think that must have been the one thing she got from him.

I know Gracie is being protected now by her beloved Big Mac.

Marje - somehow I missed this when it first posted... I am sorry for that.

It is a wonderful video. I loved to see Gracie as I envisioned her, and as she is. Her personality so shines through. She, and her beans, are one kitty I shall never forget, and still do, to this day, think of her. Those early days were such powerful ones for me, and for Mannie. Grief varies so for all of us, and I do understand where you are right now. I've had those moments too: the incredible sadness, the anger at what is, and also such a sense of joy. That will come for you too, the joy of the journey. I know it will. Losing a furkid is akin to loosing a child, at least it was for me. It takes time to heal from that, and I know none of us are even the same. I would like to think we are all better for it. I know I am, and hope it will be the same for you.

Gracie, I have taken this morning to remember you. I do it with a smile and a wonderful sense of fond memories. Peace and contentment for your beans, a wonderful life at the Bridge for you.

 

@Rachel & Chyna (GA) thank you for watching, dear Rachel. I know you totally understand....we all love your sweet Chyna angel. Oh Gracie was the absolute most adorable kitten ever. What a fearless little thing she was....I breathed a big sigh of relief when I got her safely through kitten hood. She was my little tomboy from the get-go. I also wish you could have met her.

@Michelle and Mannie (GA) No apologies needed. We all have very busy lives and you have a lot on your plate. Many continued prayers for your DH. Who could ever forget the three amigos....Mannie, Tess, and Gracie. Yes...the early days were powerful. We just had to have the deck redone (again ...sigh...long story) and all I could think about was the kitties all over here grilling lizards and protecting the catnip patch. It made me sad that it didn’t happen this time. What a fun time that was!!! I would never want any kitty to have FD but I do try to focus on the positive of what it brought us....it kept us at home so we could spend so much more time with our little one. It taught us strength, patience, and true sacrifice for a tiny soul who deserved so much. Thank you, so very much, dear friend, for taking a moment today to remember my baby girl.

I've watched this sweet video repeatedly, she was such a special baby. I thought I'd already posted HUGS but don't see it so MANY HUGS. Thank you for sharing her with us...

 

@Squeaky and KT Thank you, sweet Lyresa, for telling me that you’ve watched it repeatedly. So have I....more times each day than I can count. I just feel closer to her watching it. I’m always happy for hugs!!! I think she was put on this earth for me to share in some respect.....

 

And you all accomplished it together just perfectly....

Marje, I feel your pain and it really resonates. I can't believe it's been 8 months since Tiggy passed. 6 months since Bailey and 3 months since Cookie. It is so hard losing all my babies in a short time frame. I literally cried for a month every day after Cookie knowing that I was crying for all of them.

I still cry every few days. Doesn't take much to set me off... Like now.

And my biggest fear is forgetting them.. From seeing them every day... to eventually saying once in a blue moon... "I remember I used to have a cat that.."

I really want to adopt more but I need to heal more, I don't want to compare any new cat to the ones I lost, and I know I still feel I don't want another cat, I want my old ones back.

I love your video, maybe I will make one for mine. I did a shutterfly book with all their pictures which I love but the video idea is great too!

Oh Marge I am so sorry. I just stopped in to catch up and see that Gracie has passed. I mostly tune in via Facebook these days but I missed this sad news. Please know I am thinking of you and pray you have found some comfort and peace since this post. Such a lovely tribute to your sweet girl. It's always so difficult to say goodbye.

I'm so sorry I didn't see your video until now! It's such a beautiful and loving tribute to Gracie, and your eternal love for her. It touched my heart deeply. It is so devastating to lose a beloved family member, but I hope you can find some peace in knowing you will be with her again one day at the Rainbow Bridge. (((Hugs)))

@Wendy&Tiggy(GA) I'm so sorry....I'm just seeing this now. I know how devastating it has been for you to lose both sweet boys and Cookie. I hope you are able to put a video together....it has really helped me grieve.

@Tonya and Tiki i know it was so hard for you to lose Tiki. I'm not sure how long it will take to find any comfort. Three months have passed and it just doesn't get any easier to accept.
