    Hello,

I had a friend give me a package of 5 solar pens that have been refrigerated the whole time. The pens have an expiration date of oct 2014. I am writing to ask if this is ok to give..My friend called her doctor and he says as long as they were refrigerated they can last 2 yrs. That would mean I could use these pens through Oct 2016...your thoughts?? is this the case??

I seriously doubt that. I do know once opened the clock starts ticking. I use my pens up completely in a little over two months. I'd ask a pharmacist.

Fwiw, I've used expired lantus about that old and it has worked fine. It's all in how it's been handled and stored. And of course if you're hometesting you can see with the numbers if it's any good or not.
