Yesterday

Thanks for all the good wishes on yesterday's condo. We've had him home almost two hours now, and he's asleep on the floor next to his cage, with his water and food bowls on either side of him. He's eaten a half of a can of FF since he's been home (and Steve said he ate that much for breakfast, too). When we let him out of the carrier, he wobbled straight over to his feeding station (or where it usually is - there was nothing there. I quickly put his bowl in front of him and he started eating!

He was more alert this morning, and without that big bandage and the tubes in his neck, he's holding his head up and looking around, which is much better. Dr. Lim was very pleased with him today.

We will take this one day at a time for now. He has a follow-up with Dr. Lim on the 6th, which was her first available appointment, but I am to take him to his vet if there are any signs of backsliding (I have a list of things to watch for). If he's up to it, I'll try to get an appointment with his ophthalmologist on Tuesday.

I updated his SS with all the BG readings Steven so kindly typed up for me (there were handwritten in a notebook he carries around with him). Remember, they are on an AT. His first BG at home was blue!

I am going to spend the rest of the day hovering, but will check in later.

So good to hear Harvey is home. Have been thinking about him a lot. I hope being surrounded by his best humans and familiar things helps him to recover faster.

Thanks, everyone. We're pretty happy to have him here. Earlier he took himself to the big litter box behind the bar to pee! Made it in all by himself! I have a smaller one in the cage for him. A little while ago he climbed into the cage and sacked out on his bed.

Awwwwww. I am so happy for all of you. Harvey needed the hospital, but he needs home now. I would also e a helicopter mom, and I would fly pretty low. Lol.

Was pleasantly surprised at the PMPS. Don't know if it's the human meter or being home, or some combo, but much nicer numbers!

I told him he was on limited duty, but he dove right in, anyway!

I may do a BCS of .75 in the morning. My sister is coming from Ohio and will only be here overnight (she's here to head a seminar in Sac this week). We wanted to make a quick run to her favorite winery, and we'll be gone 2-3 hours, leaving around +4.5 or so. If I have any doubts, Mark will stay with Harvey, but I hope he'll be doing well enough that the three of us can go.

I'm so happy to read all the updates for Harvey. Have to admit it was getting hard for me to visit his condos. Extra scritches for your little boy.

 

I think it's cuz he's much better, and was ready to come home! He missed his home and his beans. Now he's happy. Hospitals are needed, yes, but always stressful.
