Doodles 12/1 We very much appreciate all the vines and prayers. The boy made it through the night without any further incidents. In fact he decided to go after Moo after his PM +4 meal Appy is so/so but he is finishing most of his meals with some coaxing.

The cardiologist opens at 8am so I'll be calling at 8:01. Dr. Church may or may not need to see him and who knows if he can even fit Doodles in today. Looking at my notes, November hasn't been a good month for the boy. His last check-up was on 11/1. He's had 5 coughing episodes and 1 back leg weakness/crying scare since 11/8. I gave him the extra bit of Lasix again this morning. 37.5mg BID is a huge dose I do have the injectable form so maybe Dr. Church will recommend giving him a shot when these episodes happen. IDK....talking in circles

Talking in circles cause when your kitty has something not right we all think in circles... at least i know i do!... hoping for Doodles to feel like he did last night chasing Moo but giving Moo some peace at the same time... hoping the Dr has something that can help... praying for you both for strength and time

Karen so sorry to hear about Doodles and all the coughing episodes. I sure wish Dr. Church could fix his heart. Fritz and I send all the vines we can find and a ton of prayersyour doing everything possible for Doodles

 

That +2 made me want to throw up and would get the R out but today is unknown for now. I'm impatiently waiting for a call back to see if we're getting an appt. today or if they'll just give direction over the phone.

Keep heading in the right direction Doodles, 308 still stinks, but is at least going the right way. It wouldn't surprise me if the higher numbers were partly due to him not feeling great yesterday. Hope you hear from the doc soon... Don't wear any trails in the carpet pacing the room

Finally heard back from the Cardio Tech. We're going to dose him with Lasix every 8 hours for the next three days. They wanted me to dose the full 33.75mg every 8 hours but that scares me. So I'll give 33.75mg at AMPS, 15mg at AM+8 and 33.75mg at PM +4 and call them on Monday. This doesn't surprise me as the answer...it's been the answer in the past. It's where we are. His meds will keep getting raised in dose until either his heart stops or his kidneys fail. I really need to watch his QOL at this point.

He'll get an increase once his depot fills from the PFS and maybe some R in the meantime. The additional meds could make him a bit screwy too.

As for meds he needs what he needs. He's starting to come down again. Could yesterday be from the goats milk?

I don't think so but probably won't give it to him anymore. If anything I think it made his poop stink and a little soft.

I just can't do an extra 33mg...might as well think about just helping him cross at that point. Going to try the extra 15mg and see how he does. Dosing Lasix every 8 hours regardless of the dose is very hard on the kidneys. This is just for the next 3 days and then we'll likely increase his every 12/12 dose again.

 

That sounds reasonable. A little boost then routine increase. If the milk created soft and a little stinky smell it probably upset him a bit. Wish the kitties could just talk, it would be so much easier.

I hope the increase in the lasix over the weekend will make Doodles feel better and you'll be able to go back to normal dosing after that.

Tomorrow is another day, you've done everything you can for today. Sounds like you have a good plan in place which is the 2nd most important thing.
Most important is lots of for you and Doodles. The Moo chasing shows he still has some spunk in him!

 

He was at it pretty good this morning and has been down for the count since. It's not helping him but gotta let him live his life.

Sigh... sending tons of vines, white light, and lots and lots of hugs.

 

Crossing fingers and paws that the increased Lasix dose will help him over this hump. Doodles has had so many great days lately, I sure hope that he will get back to being his playful self and that there are may more days full of playing with mousies, chasing his sister and lounging under the Christmas tree.

 

I hope the extra Lasix dose helps Doodles. Sending another plane load of strong strong feel better vines to Doodles.

(((Karen))) Having a heart kitty is so hard. I hate having those daily QOL discussions with DH, as I'm sure you do. I can't imagine giving over 80 mg Lasix per day. Neko's dose is 2.5mg every other day. At least Doodles has had strong kideys to date and I hope they stay that way. Sending many vines for the increased Lasix to do the triack and for many more good days (sorry Moo ).

I'd be a little scared with that amount. If I remember correctly I think Smokey got 2.5mg twice a day, every day.

Guess I should have added to go really slow on the goat’s milk. Sorry. And it might not work for him. ECID. I was able to gradually build Tobey up and he loves it. I use it when I make his freeze dried food instead of using water. But do what you think is best. And also....I’d try and take it back instead of dumping it. Primal is pretty darn good about returns. It’s not cheap stuff.

I was really hoping it would be something he’d like and would help to keep him hydrated. I just read an article on the best thing to help human’s rehydrate during and after a workout and, surprisingly, it was milk....over water!!!

I know better and should've gone slower. May or may not try the tbsp. again. At this point I just feel defeated all the way around and not sure it's even worth to keep trying. Please don't apologize...Doodles is just Doodles.

 

If it stresses you or him, don’t do it. Or if you don’t know if it could be part of the equation of an upset tummy, just hold off until he’s more stable. I know all things don’t work for all cats and we don’t know until we try. You tried and it might not be working for him. You always do the best you can for him. Please don’t beat yourself up; there are going to be things, as you know (and I don’t mean to preach to the choir), we cannot control no matter how hard we try.

I’m sure oldtimers will get a big kick out me saying that since, when we started, I was a HUGE control freak...I was certain that I could tame this FD beast Not so much.
