We have had an extremely hectic few days. We didn't do the paddle on Monday because the weather looked like it would be really bad and we would be caught on the river in thunderstorms. Well, they never materialized and the day was nice! But it was too late to get the other paddlers here. So we postponed for 2 weeks. Instead we came home to chores, huge puddles in the basement, and an overload of correspondence and bills to pay (not to mention the FDMB).
Rusty was a great traveler, but is happy to be home, too. He sulked for the first day, but his appetite has picked up since then.
Today was a real trial for me. I had to take my car to the dealer in Burlington VT (for a warranty repair) and it turns out that the job is huge and I won't get it back until Friday or Saturday. They gave me a "lender" car. I am worried that if it isn't ready by Saturday I'll miss the first day of Canoe Outing (Monday). The canoe racks are, of course, on our car. We can't carry two canoes on our small, spare rack (although we could put that rack on the "lender" and take a tandem canoe). Edward and Rusty enjoyed some outdoor time today while I was dealing with the car. On the way home I missed my exit and had to drive 20 additional miles in the "lender" (which has an automatic transmission; I haven't driven a car with an automatic transmission since the 1950s--my parents' car). I kept stepping on the wide brake pedal, which was where the clutch is in my car!)
So now I'm going down to hold Rusty's bowl and chillax until it's time to mop up water in the basement.
Hope all is well in L&LL.
