Overnight she didn't have to visit the box, but went probably 5:30 this am, still mucousy diarrhea, so she didn't have to poo after her meals last night. Appetite is fine. She did a very small mucousy poo, it's mainly all mucousy, just after eating her 1/2 can a few minutes ago. Should I see about getting some metronidazole? I can probably ger her in sometime this week for bloodwork. Don't have the funds left to do another ultrasound.

Thanks! Either are we with her, I'm really concerned. Her ultrasound was ok back in late June, but anything can happen in a short amount of time. This came on so sudden, without any transition, no warning. Her afternoon poo yesterday was the normal hard stuff, then a couple hours later there that was! Maybe I should use a probitioc? Just not sure what product I would use because of the diabetes.

Terri, my go-to is Slippery Elm Bark for all things GI . Safe for diabetics but must be given 2 hours before or after other meds because it can possibly interfere with other meds absorption . Elmo takes 1/8 teaspoon mixed with water twice a day every day . Hope this helps :bighug:

You might also want to try a probiotic that's particularly good for diarrhea -- S. boularii. Not all probiotics are created equal. I've purchased through Amazon. Start with about 1/3 of a capsule. FWIW, I used this with Gizmo after he was diagnosed with IBD and it worked great.

Probiotics are safe for diabetics unless they are mixed with something like sugar which is rare.

    1) Any brand in particular with the SEB or s. boulardii?? I know brands can differ greatly.
    2) Just got home from work and she didn't have any diarrhea after her second meal earlier today.....Of course I'm scared about cancer but there isn't any indication to think that yet. She has been getting FF chicken and beef, and I was just thinking about the beef part of that equation. My boss's cats have pancreatitis, one is diabetic while the other is in remission. A month ago the diabetic had some higher bg's and was off her food, and she stopped feeding the beef FF and supposedly things are ok now. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?
