    hey guys,
Any recommendations for low carb pill pockets? We are using Greenies right now and I think they’re like 50% carbs. I’m not even sure, but that’s what I got when I did the math from the label. I’m assuming that’s why his sugar is through the roof today. Could also be bouncing though.

    Any recommendations are appreciated!

The Dog "Duck and Pea" flavor are supposed to be lowest in carbs.....they're larger than the cat ones, but you can just pinch off what you need to cover the pill

Thanks. I compared the labels and there isn’t much of a difference. I guess we will stick with what we’ve got. I can always increase his insulin, as it’s important for him to get his heart meds. Hopefully once we see the cardiologist we can get smaller compounded pills, hopefully with more than 1 med combined.

if your cat likes cheese, stick the pill in center of small square piece of 'cheddar' cheese. cheddar cheese has no lactose in it and basically no carbs.

Tried. He’s smart, he bites it into pieces and when it all falls into the floor he eats around the pill.

Hi Ana, I only use a very small amount of the pill pocket - just enough to put a thin film around the pill. It was enough to help get Boots to take his pill without forcing him, but hopefully not spike his BG too much (we’re still working on getting him regulated so it’s hard to tell right now). I don’t know if that will work for you but thought I’d mention it in case you don’t find any options other than pill pockets.
