    Last post.

So many of you are so sweet and asked about Frosty that I feel like I should post a mid-week update (well, sorta mid-week). It's hard for me to post during the week because of my crazy work hours, and I also usually try to get to the gym after the "kids" are fed and medicated, so no time to write long updates.

But enough about me! Frosty continues to improve every day. His appetite is pretty much back to normal. I didn't give him his appetite stimulant yesterday, so the last time he got it was Sunday night.

He is getting 1/4 of the 24 mg Cerenia pill now instead of 1/2 as of last night. He is on his full dose of lasix now (12.5 mg) BID, and is now eating the potassium powder in his food without issues. Thank GOD. I will never take his good appetite for granted again.

His belly is still looking big, but I wanna say it's less tight tonight compared to the last 2 days. Hopefully the lasix is slowly helping him get rid of that extra fluid. Tomorrow, I plan on adding the benazepril to his regimen, and I hope that also will improve his heart function and help him get rid of the ascites. I am hoping it's related to his heart and fluid over load rather than something like cancer. I am a little nervous about that, but I realize that I wouldn't do anything differently if it were cancer. Just feed him and love him spoil him.

He is still weak and can't jump from the floor to a table or counter, but he can jump onto a chair. He is starting to go up and down the stairs more. I wonder if his big belly is part of the problem in addition to muscle loss. He has also been off Vetoryl for 2.5 weeks, so he may be developing some muscle weakness from the excess cortisol. If all goes well, I will restart his Vetoryl next week.

I must say I am kind of enjoying using the human BG meter, since it is making his sugars look really good. We are already in the blue at +2! I do have to keep an eye on it though, since this morning his pre shot was in the 300s - I wonder if he bounced from a lower than usual # last night. I'll check again in 2 hours before I go to bed. I might give him a snack before I go to sleep to see if his numbers are lower in the morning.

His blood ketones were also at 0.5 tonight, so he's back to normal! Not sure what that 1.3 was about earlier 2 days ago. Definitely made me nervous.

Thanks again, everyone, for checking in and holding us in your thoughts. As I said, I have never seen a recovery like this before, and I have worked in healthcare for 10 years. It's unbelievable. I just hope it continues, but I am thankful for every day that I have with him. :bighug::cat:

So great to hear from you!!! With all I've been dealing with with China, I've still been trying to keep up with kitties here and I'm so glad to hear Frosty is continuing to improve!!!

The vines sent in this forum are powerful, aren't they??

That is good Frosty is having an incremental improvement. Sometimes that all it takes is a little bit each day, then in a week they are noticeably better.

If you are worried about stuffed guts, just look at Little Dude (aka Chubnoid) from this week. You could bounce a quarter off that little pot belly, but I prefer to rub it in case a magic wish gets granted.

This is such a great report! Nothing makes us all feel better than when one of our furbabies improve. Sending lots of vines Frosty's way for continued status quo.
