It's kind of a toss up. Usually you wouldn't take 2 reductions that close together but on the other hand I think you need some sleep tonight. I also think she is bouncing. You could do the 0.10 and call that drop this morning a BCS (big chicken shot) or you can stick to the drop for now. She really worked that 0.10u dose yesterday so I'm kinda leaning toward the latter....sticking with the drop and see what she does when that bounce clears.

Ok yes I need sleep, my boss said I looked bagged . A drop it is for tonight. You think the food from last night. Is a factor?

No I think the food from last night has likely worn off by now although those treats I suppose could be leaving traces still. She didn't sky rocket up last night....she just gradually rose. It's a bounce and we both knew it would happen sooner or later given that run in the green. This too shall pass.

I see you changed your avatar pic. Molly has such an angelic face......I just want to kiss it!

I'm so happy to see that blue start to the day. :joyful: Looks like her bounces are getting shorter and definitely less dramatic.

I agree. Stick with the drop dose. She's looking good. :D

Not sure. She could have gone down last night and it was a bounce or she needs the dose boosted a tiny bit again. Let's see what she does tomorrow AM.

If you can monitor today, I'd take her back up to 0.10u. Let's see if we can get and keep her in those nice blues and dark greens a bit longer.

That's OK. Not a problem. Technically you'd leave her at a drop for a full week using the SLGS method but I given it's the weekend I thought we could try raising a smidge while you can monitor a bit more. She might surprise us and work that juice today. She obviously came down from that bounce yesterday. :)

Probably just from the ups and downs in her BG. Is she eating OK? No bowel issues? Keep an eye on her. I'm sure she will perk up.

Yes a drop is all she needs. Looks like she may have dropped lower last night. When you see a major drop like last night, it's a good idea to retest again as that drop indicates it was likely an active cycle. If you can, grab another test on your way out to work and if she is dropping already, leave extra food out for her to munch if needed. I doubt she will need it.....I think she is likely to bounce up a bit but that's just the name of the game. She is definitely settling into lower numbers better now and not bouncing as much or as long and that's a good thing.

Yes I'd give her the drop today but only because you won't be there to monitor and she dropped to the 50's when given 0.10u the night cycle of the 16th. We have got to get Molly to do this on the weekend. :p

Poor Molly! Maybe she is excited about her camping trip. I think if she gives you a lower pre-shot this weekend and you can monitor, I'd try giving the 0.10u and see what she does. The big question is whether she will honour you with a lower pre-shot on the weekend.

Molly will be fine. I think it's just those low BGs that are causing less appetite but keep an eye on her. She probably sleeps most the day when you are away so not a lot of activity to rev up her appetite either.

Yes I think 0.10 would be ideal. I trust you have some medium or high carb food with you in case Molly decides to go for a swim? She seems to be taking dips into those nice green numbers more lately. :)

Not sure. Doesn't look likely she's bouncing. I take it she is eating fine etc. I's stick to the 0.10u today and see what she does. She may need a little dose boost but I'd hold the dose for the moment.

I don't think so but it is something to watch. It's always possible with these sweet ones that they get a bladder infection and BG goes up but other than AMPA she doesn't seem to be particularly elevated. It's possible she is dropping at night and them bouncing but the early night readings don't suggest that is the case. That said, it looks like her nadir may have moved to later in the cycle on the 30th. Let's see what she does today and revisit this tonight.

Thoughts for tonight? Is she stressed from the weekend. Her feeding times were different. Also fed her chicken pate FF. Not sure if it’s from that or what.

My best guess is that she is heading into a flat yellow cycle tonight which means that pink may have been from a bounce. I'd stick with 0.10u tonight and let's see what she does tomorrow AM. I'm betting we are heading for blue again soon. Don't let me down Molly!

Don't let one off numbers get you down. She is coming back down now and she has a habit of doing this every so often so she is just being Molly. It's frustrating at times but she is still having a problem understanding those lower numbers are not a problem and she bounces. Pay attention to her clinical signs as much as her numbers. They are generally a good gauge of how kitty is feeling and that is important info.

Ok. We don't know if she was rising or still dropping so I think skipping today would be safer. Next time hopefully she will do this on a weekend so you can try the drop dose on a lower pre-shot.

The next time she throws you a low number, don't feed her and retest in 20 minutes to see if she is rising or dropping. If she is rising, you could shoot but if she is staying steady or dropping, it's a skip. I had a funny feeling she might do this although not necessarily THAT low. Her tell of a drop is often that she throws some higher BGs for a couple of cycles before the drop. When you take a night test and she has dropped like last night, you can always set an alarm for another test so you know what she is up to.

I think around +6 would be good and should give you a pretty good look at her nadir or at least let you know if she is still dropping. If she is dropping, you can give her some higher carb food to hold her and boost her up a bit so you can get some shut eye.

Yes I'd stick to the 0.10u. She technically earned a reduction to a drop by going under 90 but she is not holding the reductions so I think staying the course is a good idea right now.

There is no simple answer to that Adrienne. You can get a little more "aggressive' with her treatment but that is a decision only you can make. In my experience, once a kitty gets down to these low doses, taking dose reductions at 90 doesn't always take them to that end goal. It's tough when you are working and can't monitor Molly more closely every day and that is why I keep mentioning that I wish she would give you those low BGs at pre-shot during the weekend. Given her rise today, I think the next time she gives you a low BG at pre-shot on a work day, you could give her a drop dose and leave out some higher carb food to carry her through if she needs it till you can test at lunchtime. The decision is yours but my suggestion would be to back up on the reduction level to perhaps 75 for starters and see if we can't persuade your little girl to stay in some nice dark green longer.

I know it gets frustrating but our kitties do things on their own time and there isn't a lot we can do to change that. Some cats will go into remission and some won't no matter what you do unfortunately. Patience is key. My girl turned a corner all of a sudden and I was suddenly looking at a sea of green on her spreadsheet. I never expected it given her secondary condition (IAA) and the number of times she teased me with some runs of good numbers only to suddenly start rising again. They are all unique and we have to learn their steps to this dance and follow their lead.

Tested Molly at +6 last night. She wouldn’t eat any food. Gave her a treat that’s medium. I think in carbs. Retested her 20 min later tried to feed her again no. Gave her more treats and she wanted to go to bed. Sleepless night monitoring her. She’s eating her breakfast now.

Molly was at a perfect BG level and in no danger and she apparently didn't think she needed to eat. Most cats will eat if they are heading too low. Giving her some treats and leaving some food out for her would be fine. Hope you went back to bed and got some rest. It looks like she was surfing for a bit which is exactly what you want her to do.

The worry is unfortunately part of this journey and I don't think you'd find any members here who don't worry at times. High numbers concern us, low numbers scare us. It's a roller coaster to be sure. It's so easy to let our concerns totally take over. I think the trick is to try to keep yourself busy doing other things as much as possible to keep your mind occupied and off numbers because worrying about them doesn't change anything. Unless they start running low or very high, worrying is just a waste of energy. That said, I know turning off the worry is much easier said than done. I sometimes think I am still recovering months later from all the worrying I did with my girl. :p

I don’t worry as much as I use too. When she was first diagnosed. It was very overwhelming and there was days I would just sit and cry. But thanks to you and Kris. I’m getting better I think. Still learning but has learned a lot. It’s hard to try to make my husband understand. The BG the dosage and the bounces. And why so much testing.
Molly has been a traveller this year. I think she enjoys the camping!
When I see lower BG I panic!

The first time Menace shot me a green reading (dark green at that), I ran around my coffee table 3 times at least, mumbling hypo instructions to myself with tears in my eyes I was so shocked and scared. I'm sure my BP must have been through the roof! Once you start seeing more green, you have the process down pat and just go into action without much thought and far less panic. It's the unknown that scares us. Menace was running in nothing but green for about 2.5 months while I slowly weaned her off the insulin. You get use to the greens with time just like you got used to the new routine of testing and giving shots. :D

@MrWorfMen's Mom that's funny, but not really, all I can do is picture you running around the coffee table and Menace looking at you thinking what is wrong with my mom, I'm just fine lol

Gotta run out in a moment. I'd stick with the 0.10u this AM. Hopefully she will get down into some nice dark green! Will check in when I get back. :)

I'd stick with the 0.10u. She technically earned a reduction at 83 BUT she is not holding the reductions so I suggest we don't reduce unless she goes a bit lower, perhaps 75. I love those greens today. That's exactly what we want to see. :D

Yes, I loved seeing the greens today too. She was a frisky kitty too.

Quick check in again, Adrienne. I'm very glad Linda is here to help. I understand the worry all too well. After three and a half years of Teasel's FD I'm more used to the ups and down and have learned what I can get away with and what I need to monitor. It's tricky with him because he's anything but predictable! o_O

You're doing great and so is Molly. :):bighug:

Thanks Kris I’m happy that I have Linda helping me. But like I said before I’m happy that I found this site. Happy that you were there to help me, from the beginning. I was pretty stressed and didn’t know what to do. Im thankful for you and Linda helping Molly and I.

Yes I'd stick to 0.10u. Check her before you leave if you are concerned and leave extra food if she is dropping.
