    Hi Everyone,
After my summer of Lyme Disease (which the doctor's do not believe I had) and pneumonia, I am happy to report that I am feeling my "normal" self again and have begun to resume my usual activities. Hooray! :joyful:Edward and I walk several miles every day and we have done a few paddles. Next week I will go on my first hike (an easy one) since I got sick. Weather here is getting cold, but we plan to paddle until "ice in", as usual. I don't plan on climbing a mountain, however, until I get "fit" again. I'm working on building up my lost muscles (rowing machine and stationary bicycle).

Gus is his usual, active self. We play for a good half hour every morning and we've been taking him outdoors when the weather is nice so that he can climb trees. His fur is growing back after his shearing (did I mention that he lost 3/4 of a lb. of hair because of bad mats?). Sorry, no new pictures of Gus, but I'm posting a great shot of a group of Canada Geese resting during their migration.

Thanks again for your support during my bout with whatever it is I had. You guys are the best!

Hugs to you and scritches to your kitties

There does not appear to be a consensus on which way to face on the log. Geese are big on consensus.

So glad you are feeling better and have managed to dip an oar while the weather is still good.

So glad you are able to get out and do the active things you enjoy again!
It has always amazed me how long it takes to get in shape, but how quickly you can loose it.

I'm thinking of you! Glad you're on the mend after your illness. If you start feeling like you need more info on lyme, just message me, or tell marje, wendy, sienne, Dyana, tricia, gill, sandy or amy and they can give you my email address.

Things to watch for - lyme can cross into the brain within 6 months, causing headaches. That was my daughter's 1st symptom, although she was 6 and we didn't have any idea what was causing the headaches. A second somewhat unusual symptom is called migrating pain. One day your arm hurts in some random spot, another day it's your leg that hurts.

Babesia is the most common co-infection and it's like malaria - cold and hot simultaneously. Night sweats are common. It causes anemia, so fatigue and paleness result.

Hopefully you're all better, or it wasn't lyme, but just in case I want to put those things out there for you to be watchful. Our doctor says it's an epidemic, but so many doctors don't know how to recognize or treat it.

Love the goose picture!! Be well!

Many thanks, Julie! I haven't had those particular symptoms and hope not to. I had the "classic" Lyme symptoms: fatigue, swollen joints that didn't "migrate", but finally the swelling and pain went away. Now I am recovering from pneumonia, which may or may not be related to the Lyme (I think it is, but 3 doctors so far are convinced that I didn't have Lyme!). Anyway, I am feeling so much better and happy to be off the antibiotics, which made food taste awful.
I'm so sorry that your very young daughter had to experience those frightening symptoms. I hope that she is totally recovered.

Thanks again for this information. I'll be in touch.

HI!!! I am so glad to read that you are feeling better, an back to your normal self. What a summer for you! Good luck with your getting back into swing of things. I am sure you will be back to those mountains in no time.

Whoa on Gus, and the fur! Almost a pound of fur?

hope all continues to be well with you. We are doing great here. Nicholas and William love school this year, and are doping well. The kitties are hanging in there too. Vanessa and Bug are continuing to do well, even with their lymphoma. It's been almsot two years now for Vanessa, a year and a half for Bug. And... Lola is still Lola. She has mellowed some, but is still our energizer wild and feisty kitty.

    Take care!

I think Gus and Lola would make a great team--partners in crime, as it were! Gus climbed 8 trees yesterday, and the day before he zoomed away before Edward could get his shoes on and we searched for him in the woods at the back of our house for a good 20 minutes! The loss of all that hair has given him his 3rd kittenhood (he's 11 years old).
So good to hear from you. I've let my e mail correspondence slide this summer. Great news that Vanessa and Bug are doing well. They get such good care and love. Are all the kitties still spending lots of time in the "catio"/cat walk?
Good to hear that the boys are still loving school. They must be terrific swimmers by now.
I hope that you'll be able to get in some good hikes east of the mountains before the snows.
Let's try better to keep in e-mail touch,

Good to hear from you! And so glad that you are doing better and can get back to the activities that you love. Not sure whether an early ice in is a good thing or not... I guess it's good either way, either more snow or more paddling. Greetings to your guys, too.
    Liz
