Just saying hi and I am glad this site exists.

Our boy just got diagnosed, he's about 13 years old and 11.8 pounds last checked.

I'm not sure what else to say except thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the best place you never wanted to be!!

Fox is a gorgeous kitty!! (I assume the cat's name is Fox, not Bill....LOL)

You can get a meter at any human pharmacy that will work fine. Most of us use human meters and all our dosing methods were developed using human meters.

A popular one is the Relion Prime from WalMart (if you're in the US). The strips are only .16 cents each and when you test as much as a lot of us do, that's important! It's also important to be able to get strips any time. Our sugarcats have an annoying habit of dropping too low at 3am on a Sunday morning, so being able to get strips can be really important!

There are pet meters, but the strips are about $1 each! Too rich for my blood!

Once again, welcome to the FDMB! Great job getting your signature and spreadsheet set up!

Welcome Bill & Fox. We understand how this is overwhelming since we all have been there also. But feline diabetes is very manageable it it will not take long before you find the way that works best for both of you.

The important things are a low carb canned or raw food diet, most dry is high in carbs, home testing and long acting insulin that works well for cats

Please ask all of the questions you have. We are here to help you learn all you can to give Fox the best care possible.
