Cassie literally sits her butt as close to the litter as possible. Like it's almost impossible to get it into her stream, hahah. I've put the ketone strip right into the wet litter, and thankfully both times it comes up negative for ketones. But I just wonder if it's inaccurate because of the litter?

i've heard different things about "litter dips."

to avoid the litter, this is what we've worked out with kit:

we tip the litter box a inch or so on ketone testing days. we put some litter at the "high end" and leave it empty near the low end "entrance."
apparently, kit needs at least see some litter in there in order to pee bc this didn't work with an empty box.
when she does pee, it collects "down hill" near the entrance and we dip the stick into the pool while she's still in the box.

also, we make sure the litter box is super clean. no detergents or anything, just clean cloth, a little water, and then make sure it's nice and dry.
