GA 7/25/2020 Ollie received her wings

After 6 hrs waiting in the car I was finally able to go in and hold Olive. She was purring up a storm and flipping her tail and most surprisingly letting me hold her (which she normally did not like to be held) snuggled her head in my neck as she received her wings.

Ollie deteriorated so much in the last 2 days. Stopped eating yesterday. Trouble peeing, dribbling blood tinged urine for last week. Couldn't get meds in her yesterday. BG kept tanking. Hips seemed very sunk in last 2 days. Vets and other ER couldn't seem to do anything this past week to help her.

Her grade 2 murmur is now grade 6. She had temp of 104.3. The abdominal mass (irregular shape/margins, probably cancerous) more than doubled in size pushing her other organs out of place. Especially the intestines, hence her problem with pooping. I asked if this was her left side (it was always painful if you touched it and it looked like it was bulging out to me). They said yes. Free fluid was starting to accumulate in abdomen. The chronic pancreatitis has caused a lot of damage and they said I never would have gotten a handle on it for her to be comfortable, pancreas was very abnormal.

Yes, I could have had her admitted for a full workup on Monday with cardiologist and the doctor who does ultrasounds, but the fluids she would need even if careful would put her into congestive heart failure and she probably wouldn't improve any over the weekend.

In the end, she would still have acro, pancreatitis, diabetes, abdominal mass, and HCM and it would all get worse over time. I couldn't put her through anymore. She looked miserable, uncomfortable and very lethargic. As much as I wanted to keep her with me, my heart said it was time to let her go.

I'm devastated, broken in a million pieces. Its to much in 3 days.

You were loved Ollie, RIP, soar high. You will be so missed.

 

My heart aches for you reading this, but at the same time I picture Olive free and with those wings, free from her illnesses and at peace. You already have wings in my mind for all that you have done to care for Olive including granting her peace today. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Again, I am so sorry for this sudden loss.

 

That's how it was with Leoberry too, and he departed 7/5/2019. Our Acros take so much from us, but give us back so much. Leaving us with nine lifetimes of great memories.

Ollie had the best of care. She was adored and loved. My heartfelt condolences to you. And tears. Fly free little one, you were a beautiful kitteh. Please join Leoberry at the Bridge.

 

You gave her that final gift we never want to give. She knows she was loved and showed you by purring and cuddling. It’s hard to let go but you didn’t want her to suffer. You did the right thing at the right time but it hurts so much I know. Take care of yourself.

 

(((Paula))) you gave her so many chances....from day one of adopting another FD....that no one else would have done for her. You’ve done an amazing job handling her acro. I am so terribly sorry for your heartbreak and your loss. She knows every thing you did was from pure love.

Paula, I just wish this wasn't so. I've hesitated writing out of a sense of shock, and a loss of words. You and Ollie were so good to Tina and me - and an important part of our lives during our months on insulin, and after, too. I was already reading about you and Ollie even as a lurker. You are so involved, loving, and Olive was a beautiful and lucky little girl. You saved a darling of a health challenged kitty, and also shared her with all of us.
We love you, and thank you, and hurt deeply for you.

We do not hurt for Ollie - she is free now and very very lovely in her glorious spirit. She gave you one last thank you and hug. and she wants you to know you were amazing for her.
Your dad is free too, and YOU, my darling are an angel on this imperfect earth, and I hope your pain isn't excruciating for too long.

Olive was an amazing kitty and you an amazing mamabean. I feel privileged to have actually known Ollie "in cat", if only for a few hours (when @Linda and Bear Man and I drove the second lap of her journey to you). She was such a good traveler. I know that she knew she was going to a loving home. You gave her the best of care and you both tried so hard to overcome all of her health issues. I am thankful that you were able to spend those precious moments with her before she donned her angel wings.
You welcomed her to your home with love and you gave her a loving farewell. She will always be with you in that special place in your heart that belongs only to her.

I remember that day so well. You both took time away from the Carnival to drive her. Threat of a blizzard pending. She remained a great traveler, loved to visit my dad in the facility. On the few days I had to take her (to monitor) to work with me, she never failed to complete her job (sleeping).

I so miss her and want her back.

 

I’m so sorry. They all take a part of us with them when they leave, but acros especially so. They endure so darned much, and so stoically ... how can they not steal our hearts. I’m quite sure Tubby snorted “good riddance” to his ravaged body as he earned his wings. I wish I could temper the pain you feel, but you always did right by Olive. My thoughts are with you.

 

From one acro mom to another, it's just not fair. These fur kids of ours give so much to us yet when they leave, they take a big part of our hearts with them. Every place you look there are reminders of little ones. It doesn't get any easier does it?

Tears are flowing as I feel your loss. A person feels so helpless that there is nothing one can do. I know you want her back. Lots of hugs...

 

Paula, I'm so very sorry that you've lost your beautiful girl. You went above and beyond to give her a good life. With you she had a million extra chances that otherwise wouldn't have been given to her.

 

I am totally in shock. I definitely didn’t expect to check in and see such devastating news, I wasn’t expecting it. Ollie was such a beautiful cat I’m so sorry it was her time to go. I am so glad you got to be with her in her final moments.

Oh my goodness Paula! I am so sorry to hear about Olive! I swear my heart stopped for a moment when I saw the GA and the title, and I find myself at a loss for words. I think the last time I checked in she was starting to have issues, but it just breaks my heart that she declined so quickly. You were such a rock star with Olive, and I always so admired your tenacity in getting her the care and meds she needed. You never gave up, and you ensured she had a wonderful life with you. And in the end, when it all became too much, you eased her suffering. Always looking out for her and fighting for her best interests.

I have loved getting to know Ollie over the last couple of years. It was clear how much you loved each other, and I thank you for sharing her with us. I am sending you many hugs, and vines of love and peace. Take care of yourself Paula.
