Hi all. Dipper has been in remission since July 2019. I noticed he seems to not be acting like himself for the last few days so I checked his blood. He was at 396 (relion meter). I checked him a couple hours later and he was at 490. Should I start him back on insulin right away or monitor for a couple days? He currently only eats fancy feast pate and friskies pate. I did give him a little cooked hamburger with no seasoning last night as a treat. Thank you

I checked his blood this morning and he was at 353. I think I should start insulin...thoughts?

I don't know if I'm missing it but I'm wondering if anyone replied to you when you posted this. I'm in the same spot now. I wondered what happened with Dipper. Churchill has been in remission for about a year and I noticed that he was drinking water (noticeably) and peeing a little more. His glucose was 280. I am transitioning him to a raw diet from the fancy feast and wondering if I'm going in the right direction. I have a vet appointment on Tuesday but I am still worried.

I would get a fructosamine done before starting insulin. Infections, dental issues, can knock kitties out of remission. The unseasoned hamburger should have no effect on BG.

If you (both!) post in the Main Health forum you'll get more eyes on your kitties situation and they may have other suggestions. :)

    Hi there,

Unfortunately, Dipper is back in the sugar dance but he is doing well. I did take him to the vet and health wise he was doing pretty good, no teeth issues or infections . He has been back on insulin and trying to loose a bit more weight. Hopefully he can get back in to remission... I also hope you can get Churchill back there too! :)

My eyes must not be working today - I thought the date for your post was August, not April! Fingers crossed for you and Dipper!
