I'm switching from Vetsulin (U40) to Lantus (U100) and having to buy new syringes.
    U40 I'm using is 1/2" and 29 gauge
    • U100 is available in thinner gauges, 30 and 31
      • It seems obvious to want to go for the thinnest, but I'm afraid of bending the thin needle
      • Does anyone experience bending with 30 or 31?
    • It's also available in 2 lengths, 1/2" and 5/16"
      • Any advantage going with the 5/16" over 1/2"
    • Which U100 syringe is your favorite brand?
    Thanks!

I think I only bent the thinner needles once or twice - and that was from pulling the cap off a little too rough lol.

5/16 is shorter of course - with the half-inch needles I was doing more furshots because it'd go right through the skin from being too long.

I preferred the CarePoint brand but switched to Walmart's ReliOn brand because they were cheaper. :)

I also use the Relion brand. I've bent two one pulling cap off and one putting cap on, the putting cap on one poked. My finger. I also use the shorter ones as well he notices them less.

When you switch to Lantus and the U100 needles, put the U40 needles in a different part of the house or donate them to a shelter or DCIN or sell/give away in the Supply Closet.

U100s usually have an orange cap.
U40s usually have a red cap (but still, get them far away and out of sight). Using them accidentally is more than doubling the dose and could have dangerous consequences.

Thanks for that advice. If I have any left, I'll definitely do that. As it is, I'll run out of U40 within a day or 2 of getting my order...or I may run out before, depending on how long the order takes.
