And sorry no one responded yesterday - you can always tag folks or bump up your post if not getting answers - board seems pretty busy these days so I think some posts inadvertently get missed.

FWIW, have you considered the human meter again? I think I read you were going to use up some AT2 strips - if it were me, I'd just switch and see what Abby looks like on a human meter and then the more experienced folks can give more confident answers on potential OTJ (<anti-jinx> ).

And I think you're right on insulin potency in a vial is about 6 months but I don't know first hand...maybe switch to human meter before buying new insulin? Just a thought.

 

Thanks for the note and thoughts - really appreciate it (and there are definitely cats that need more help on the board so totally understand that it gets busy). Yes still working through my AT2 strips but will order a human tracker if it will help at this point with guidance on what to do. Abby seems to be getting more consistent and less bouncy (knock on wood), but I don’t want to stop insulin too soon if she needs it (that said I’d rather not buy another $300 vial if she won’t need it or explain to vet why I’m still giving Abby insulin since they said I should stop when she was in 200s).

 

Are you in the US? ReliOn Prime doesn't cost a lot and Walmart will deliver for free if your order is >$35 (just make sure to get some strips as the meter doesn't come with any); I do order pick-up for Walmart too and will throw test-strips in my order. Just a thought.

yikes! this is a lot! Maybe check the supply closet board? There's always Marks...I just ordered 5 pens + Styrofoam insulation (to prevent freezing of the insulin) and it was $199 to ship from Mark's in Canada. Looks like you can buy a single pen ($45.99 + shipping) or a single vial ($110 + shipping). They do need an Rx from your vet but you can send a copy or have your vet send one in.
