The HIs are discouraging, I noted on his SS that it is possible he had a fur shot. I felt NO wetness, I always check, and he was calm as always. But I smell a slight scent of insulin. Do they sometimes release that scent without having a fur shot??

I know it can be discouraging with the HIs - I haven't been around the FD world long but I've seen other kitties eventually settle down. Perhaps the more experienced folks will come by (you can always edit your title and add your question + the question mark to get more eyes).
If there's a bit on the syringe, perhaps a little bit. When I've had fur shots, I've smelt it for sure (lantus is pungent). If you think it's possible furshot, you can note it in your AMPS Units cells - e.g. "1.5u (FS?)" (I see you have the comment too - it's nice to have it in the units cell for anyone glancing at your SS regarding dosing).
