Will you be able to monitor if you shoot?

We will be home together but I have kids and grandkids here and I’m worried I would be distracted. It’s just not the best day. They are leaving tonight so I can dedicate more to this then.

I would shoot since you are home. Shoot low to stay low.

Ok. I’ll do it. I will feed him medium carb if his breakfast doesn’t give him a food bump.

I hope Oliver surfs safely today. You should get a +1 and a 2 to see where he is headed.

So glad that you gave Oliver the shot, Shelley! Shoot low to stay low was a mantra of mine for a while until I got used to it. Soon all you will want to shoot are greens! Surf safely, Ollie!

So glad to see you shot. Who knows. Maybe a reduction will be earned and if not here’s to a nice surf. :D

The food gave him a slight bump. Feeding him some more right now. MC usually fixes him.

Good luck, Shelly. It is scary to shoot those greens. I just found out yesterday. I'm glad you can monitor Oliver.

It's early in the cycle. So if you don't have anything higher than 13% and he is still below 50 at the next test, add a little honey. If he will eat food with honey in it.

    Congrats on the reduction! :)

Shooting green gets addictive because it’s the way to get tightly controlled and if lucky OTJ. It also protects the kidneys.

I’ve tried to find it here and no luck. 14% was highest. But, I will see if there is some on line or maybe drive to the next city.

Ai yai yai, they have a way of needing attention just when we’re busy with something else, don’t they? (Kind of like a kid when you’re on the telephone, lol).

For high carb, it looks like Amazon has the Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers variety packs, which include the 20% beef feast, at a reasonable price. https://www.amazon.com/Purina-Fancy-Feast-Poultry-Collection/dp/B005OB3E30/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=fancy+feast+variety+pack&qid=1618182502&sr=8-6&th=1&psc=1

The strictly beef feast cases are from 3rd party sellers so are more expensive.

Also, I don’t know if it’s been mentioned (or if it’s even recommended with TR these days) ... but there’s a third option on days like today where you have a low pre-shot but aren’t able/wanting to monitor closely. That option is a reduced dose. It allows you to shoot something and hopefully prevent the BG spike resulting from no shot, but also hedge against the likelihood of going too low. Just something to consider...

I am not a huge fan of the reduced dose when kitty is on smaller doses. The problem with a reduced dose is that the depot from the previous cycles will influence the cycle, and you'll likely end up with the first part of the cycle looking like you had shot full dose. To make a difference, you have to shoot a much reduced dose, like a half dose or less, and still monitor the first part of the cycle.

    Congrats on the reduction.

Agreed. I should have used the term token dose.
