Hi Cecile, we switched to raw and we never looked back, even more if you know that she wasn't having this reaction on raw i would not think about it twice. Tell your vet that allergic reaction is a real struggle compared to a possible risk with raw food. We feed Chico raw over a year, he went into remission on raw. If you want to feel "safer" you can put the meat in the over for 10 min just to kill bacteria on the surface, we do that because my husband feels more comfortable with it - the 10 min won't cook the meat, it will barely start cooking the surface - i'll attach a link with instruction for that: https://catinfo.org/making-cat-food/

I'm sure Jessica and Katherine will have much more to add to that :)

Hope you manage to tackle the allergy :bighug:
Thank you @Marina & Chico ! And @Bandit's Mom.
She is still high this morning but acting much better, she was jumping and playing earlier.

Hi Cecile, I am sorry that Bella is overgrooming her belly but glad to see that she's jumping and playing this morning :)

I agree with Marina about the benefits of raw food. Callie has terrible allergies that cause her to scratch herself and overgroom like crazy. We fed her novel proteins for years thinking that the problem was the proteins but I think she was also reacting to other additives in the canned foods. We started feeding her raw a few months ago (after her diabetes diagnosis) and have found that it is the best low-carb way for us to manage Callie's allergies. Our vet doesn't generally recommend raw food for the same reasons your vet doesn't but given Callie's allergies/symptoms when eating canned food, he is totally on board with what we are doing.

If Bella wasn't itching or overgrooming when you were feeding her raw, hopefully changing back to raw can really help.

Thank you! You are explaining exactly what I was thinking, it does not look like she is reacting to a specific protein (our vet thought fish, but some of the raw food I was giving her had fish oil and she was fine, although I guess there might not be an allergen in oil), more to canned foods in general. I did not make it at home, I bought it from Woody's pet food, it's made locally.
