Finally some greens today with the new increase (@ 8.5u now), his numbers have been higher lately and he's been drinking like crazy! Micio just completed a second round of antibiotic Veraflox but unfurtunately it looks like the infection on his lower left teeth is back, he's going back to the dentist on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Micio is going to have an heart ultrasound tomorrow and the vet told me to give him 100Mg Gabapentin 2-3 hours before drop off at 7am (a cardiologist equipe will come down at my vets office but don't know at what time.....hate when this happens); anyway, won't it be better to give 50Mg tonight and 50Mg tomorrow morning? Micio weights around lb. 14.4 now.
Also, do you guys know if Gabapentin is safe to give when bg's are on the lower side (got a 64 @ +3 tonight) ? @Wendy&Neko @Diane Tyler's Mom @Bron and Sheba (GA) @tiffmaxee
Tnx

I think the larger dose tomorrow would be better. I did give gaba to Neko for a two week trial to help her pain. I stopped it after the trial, it wasn't doing much. I don't remember it impacting her BG's. She started on a 50mg dose then went up to 100mg. Very similar weight to Micio.

Good luck with the echo tomorrow and the dental later this week. The infection would definitely explain his numbers.

Tnx

Tnx, I almost feel like his infection never went away and the antibiotics just kept it down but as soon as treatment was done then it appears all over again...maybe his body is not able to fight infection easy anymore? Really hope the dentist won't need to perform another surgery though..

Maybe a different antibiotic is needed. I've heard Clindamycin is good for mouth infections.

@Wendy&Neko , @tiffmaxee Micio echocardiogram went ok: no changes from 8 months ago (still grade II heart murmur), they just suggested to slightly increase the Amlodipine and possibly see an Endocrinologist since Acromegaly seems to be the biggest concern. I think we need to take care of mouth infection first and then the rest. I'll bring Clindamycin up to the dentist on Thursday and see what he says.

Great news on the echo! :)

I would be curious to see what value an endocrinologist could add, without spending a lot of money. But willing to learn. I think you are right to prioritize the infection.
