6/9 PM Boris PMPS 108, +1 77, +2.75 37!!

Are you feeding a snack at +2 to slow the drop?
I usually have the timed feeder set for +3.5, but this morning I decided to break up his breakfast to feeding at amps and the rest an hour later. Took his BG before running out to jobsites and saw he was low so gave him a spoon of 7%.

To be honest, in the past his lows were hitting closer to pmps, but the last two big green drops have happened in the +3 but were 9 weeks apart. Do you think I shold break up feedings to morning, +2, and then possible a snack somewhere in between? Or just the breakfast then +2? In the evening I don't see much consistency so I'm at a loss there currently.

Time for a couple of drops of syrup, now and retest in 20 minutes. You don't mess with the 30s. Any time you get in the 30s it is an automatic reduction.
I did the food and have not done the syrup yet. Last time I used the syrup he threw up, so I typically try with food and then if I don't see the rise, syrup is next. He's at 49 now. Going to keep 30 min tabs on him until it looks safe.

I see, that's 3 posts then, which is why I'm confused. As I said, we suggest posing one condo per day, and keeping that updated if you have questions or need help, otherwise we can't keep up with who posts where, and what is happening in one day. @Wendy&Neko can you please consolidate when you get a minute this evening?

Two posts today that I know of. confused about 3rd you are seeing, but maybe it showed that way to you. Will be tighter on posts next time. :)

Best thing is to have some HC on hand, above 15% if you find he doesn't do well with syrup and vomits. You need some big guns when you are in the 30s. For safety, you don't want him lingering under 50 and certainly not in the 30s. Hoping with the next test you'll get above 50, it's still early in the cycle.

7% carbs aren't cutting it, please give some syrup or HC food.

@ 3.5 he is now 59. Thank goodness! Boris is very carb sensitive, why 7% seems low for you guys, but he typically only eats 1% or less to keep him from going high. Tried to feed him hourly tonight to curb this, but he was on the move with the green today! I knew it was too good to be true that he was steadily holding all day.

I do no to go get some more 15%. It's on my list. Haven't needed any for so long, it's been overlooked. Glad the 7% still did the trick.

If you only gave 7% I would check again now.

Under 40 definitely needs HC, we do recommend the syrup as well but I understand your concern. It is worth trying again as it may have been a fluke.

41-50 also needs HC.

His nadir is a little hard to pinpoint, and you potentially have awhile til nadir, so err on the side of extra carbs.

He's at 59 as of +3.5. Going to keep an eye on him and reduce in the am.

Even carb sensitive cats sometimes need more carbs. I used to feed 6-9% in the 40s because if Mav even smelled HC he'd fly to the moon :). Until I found some cycles that didn't quite do the trick. Always good to have options, when the *usual* carb intervention that typically works doesn't. Like I said you don't mess with the 30s, and the faster you get him above 50, the better. Especially too because he's already earned a reduction so he's got nothing left to prove.

Oh just looked the primal nuggets I have are 14% that I have put away for a while. Will be my next go to when this happens. He goes crazy for those! LOl your post about your cat made me chuckle.

Oh wow, I'm an idiot. I just looked up the numbers of the food I have on hand....I have a little write up of how many carbs each has in my FMDB/Boris folder. I was feeding him 10% not 7%. I don't even have a 7%.

The joys of owning a diabetic cat. Your mind is fried most of the time.
