Bella is doing well, but I am all shaky and sad. My daughter called me from the school bus because she saw a cat getting hit by a car, and he was still alive and moving. I went to check with the intention to take him to the vet, but found him a block further, obviously dead. He was probably hit again, there was a lot of blood. The poor kitty was still warm and limp. I put him on the grass so he would not be hit again, and called animal control, they will go get him and try to find his owners. I wish I could have done more.
 
That's so sad :( really sad. So beautiful that you went immediately there to see if you can help. Perhaps he left with the knowledge that someone cares for him and that can be a bit of comfort :bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
Oh no that’s the saddest situation. Your poor daughter. She must have been so upset. That was so kind of you to go try to help Cecile. You are raising a lovely, caring daughter as well. Sending your family a warm hug on a very sad day :bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
Thank you. She was on the school bus and saw it happen, then she saw that the cat was walking. I was with him aboiu 10 minutes later, maybe not even that long. Now I feel so sad, i wish I would have taken him home or to the vet, to be sure. I went back and he's gone, I think animal control went there right away. There is a lot of blood on the street and I got lots of it on my gloves as well. I hope you are right, @Fistuk & Shelly , and he knows somebody was there!

I had something similar happening to me, I know how hard it feels.
One evening I was out and about and suddenly noticed a cat walking strangely by the side of the road. I stopped and saw the cat walking strangely and figured he was hit by a car. i was on a scooter at that time so I couldn't take him to the vet. I called animal control and waited for such a long time. Eventually a driver who passed by saw me sitting on the pavement and asked if he could help. he took us to the vet and just as we sat in his car, the cat on my lap, he took his last breath. When we got to the vet he said he was gone. I was devasted. If only the anianimalal control had been there sooner he might have been saved.
Sometimes our best is just not enough to beat life and death. Sending you lots of love:bighug::bighug::bighug:

My daughter explained a little more. When the bus drove by, the cat had just been hit, he was moving in a way that made her think he was either having a seizure or had a spinal cord injury. He got out of the middle of the road and stopped in the gutter, where I found him 10 minutes later. She said there was a lot of blood in the middle of the road where he was hit, too. So very sad, but I am glad I could get to him fast (sorry, I don;t know if he's a boy or a girl cat, but in French, cat is a masculine word, so that's the way I think!), hopefully his owners could get news fast.
 
Oh Cecile, I'm so sorry you're daughter had to see this and you also.
This just makes me sick to my stomach when I hear something like this.
So nice of you to get there and try to help him.

That was yesterday, but thank you, Diane. She was happy to know I did everything I could to find his owners fast, that’s the main reason she told me, she said she wasn’t surprised that he died fast after seeing him move like that. Hopefully they are not looking for him now. I wrote on 2 neighbors groups and a lot of people saw the posts, so I am hoping that reached them. I cannot believe how sad I still feel for this cat and his family.
