Yesterday Good morning, We have a vet apt later this morning for a checkup and BW. Poor Leo, he was sitting on the table as I was just finishing up checking his ears last night when my DH brought his carrier in from storage. As soon as Leo saw it, he stood up and slowly crept over to the end of the table while craning his neck to get a look at the carrier. He meowed, jumped down on the floor, gave the carrier a wide berth, meowed again and started walking away quickly down the hallway. Poor baby, he probably remembers the scary sleepover he had at the vet last time, I know I do! When I caught up with him, I brought him into the bedroom and put him on my pillow and hugged him till he purred and forgot about the scary thing in the kitchen. I’m really not looking forward to stuffing him into the carrier and taking him for a car ride but it’s got to be done. I can’t wait to be back so we can put all this behind us. Have a good day everyone, hugs to all your fur babies!!
What a good momma you are, Sonia ❤️ Do you use Feliway spray in the car and carry box ? I even give my clothes I'm wearing a spray . That and a few drops of Rescue Remedy I give ab an hour before going seems to help . Mine scurry away whenever they see the dreaded carry box as well Sending prayers that all goes well and quickly and that you /Leo are home in a wink
Poor Kitty, they really do remember a lot of things we don't want them to remember. I hope the vet appt and the drive go as smoothly as possible. Good luck and let us know how things went
My Molly is the same. She dislikes the vet so much. It stresses me out just as much. I hope the visit to the vet goes well
Hope vetty visit isn't to bad and all tests are good. Ollie is the only one that's easy to put in carrier. I think she actually enjoys it. Fresh air, new sights. She is the only one who doesn't have an accident in carrier.
Awwww I'm feeling Leo, poor baby. Put that awful container back in storage, or better yet, toss it out with the trash!! Your description of Leo gave a clear visual, What a cute reaction, trying to slink away unseen. I hope all goes well for you both at the vet's
What Beth 73 said works great for Ravan & Alice. I spray the Feliway on a towel in the carrier about 10 mins before we leave. Rescue Remedy I rub on the ears . I also started leaving the carrier out & opened so they can get used to it. All these years I used to put it away & then it dawned on me that they only see it when they're going to the vet. NOT Good! I take some rescue remedy myself. I think I get more nervous than my Kitties! I also do deep breathing & sing softly to them while in the car. The last few times I was amazed how much calmer we all were! Even the Vet commented on how quiet & calm Ravan & Alice were. He asked me what I was doing & said he'll recommend it to some of his clients with stressed out Kitties. Maybe it will help Leo
I hope Leo's visit to the vet went well...sorry to hear about his adverse reaction to the carrier...hate to say it, but Luci loves her carriers...I'm not sure why, but whenever I set it out before we travel - she crawls right in and has herself a nap. Have a nice evening Sonia
Vetty vines. At least it sounds like Leo doesn’t make you chase him. My young ones can take 10 minutes to capture. His numbers are looking good! i hope kidneys are nice and stable.
