Henry's last (65) reading was 02/22/2021 for the evening 12 hours
See what his +5.5 will be ?

Dial Calipers Below______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurement of 0.075" = 1.25 units

*For those who are monitoring Henry's progress I'm trying to be consistent and precise as possible because even though ECID there will be some parallels to derive from Henry's spreadsheet. The units of insulin (1 unit = 0.060") are measured with Dial Calipers. I take the BG readings at the same time daily and the feedings are given the same time daily with carbs and volume stated in the notes. Reducing the variables to a minimum will help to make a more accurate analysis of both present and future outcomes.*
Good luck with the little increase! I love calipers for dosing! The measurements are unique to the brand of syringe - perhaps you can add the brand of syringe you are using to the note in your SS. Just a thought :bighug:

He looks great! Interesting on your measurements for those syringes. I just did that for a member for those specific syringes and got 1u=1.25mm. Your measurements would equate to 1u=1.5mm.

Not that you should change anything; just an observation.

Very interesting stuff Robert! I think it's great that you're being so precise with Henry's doses!

I am also frustrated with the sloppy markings and other production flaws in the syringes. At the small doses we're giving it's not accurate enough. There is really a need for smaller, more precise syringes for use in cats and small dogs.

The problem is the stamping of the syringes has variance in distance so you are left to establish what 1 unit would be in inches and then you must stick with that measurement for good because you could measure another syringe and it might be 0.053" due to the variance of stamping process
Thank you for the explanations and figures.

However, one does not have to make the determination in inches. As a scientist, I tend towards the metric system and with the small volumes used and the small stamping on the syringes, it is easier for most people to calculate dose changes in larger numbers (mm vs inches). I select syringes where the zero line is where it’s supposed to be and always measure several different syringes between several unit markings to determine what should be used for 1u when dosing with calipers.

Inches or Millimeter

1 inch = 25.4mm not a difficult task at all and yes my work as a machinist was in measured in both measurement it just a simple mathematical calculation

1mm = 0.003937 or ~= 0.004" of an inch in some of my work in that range would have been a scrapped part

Besides I'm not going to buy brand new dial calipers in millimeters when I can use my current calipers and use inches as a measurement
My comments were more for others and so you understood what most here do. I don’t know anyone else here that measures in inches but that doesn’t affect you. I wouldn’t expect you to buy new calipers.
