Thanks Diane! I am happy, I just can't believe how he's holding low. Other than the dose, I can't think of anything that would change his numbers so vastly.

Maybe his diet is working, OR...

To reduce his calories, I went ahead and got some of the Dr. E, Clean Protein. I mixed half and half Clean Protein and Young Again dry.

Supposedly, it's the same carb count, but idk... Calorie restriction can't be doing it, but maybe the YA has higher carbs than it advertises?

    Just thoughts..

Yes, that's why I instituted the Dr Elsey's, its slightly lower calories, so I am able to feed the same amount of food, but trim the calories down. He gets the YA Mature which says it's 5% carbs, but its supposed to be the same for the Dr. E...

I think I'm over thinking it, Diane. Its likely just the insulin dose!!

Over thinking is my SUPER POWER! :joyful:

    I tested twice at +4 because I got a 67 and then a 70. Fed MC and he's 77 at +5

There's the nadir lower than 76 that you requested @Wendy&Neko ...

    He took your threat seriously!

I think it's safe to say, no increase right now :bighug:

Edit to add, he dipped again where I tested twice at +6, this time I fed 1 tspn HC.

Go Sly!:D There is a new diabetes trial going on at the Royal Vet Clinic's Diabetes Remission Clinic in London, with a new food that is supposed to really help cats become less "fluffy". It's having great success.

    Love this!

Let's save that HC for below 50 if you can. HC can cause his numbers to zoom up if later in the cycle. A gentler touch with MC or LC might be better.

Ok will do, it did give that bump to 80, but he keeps coming down and teetering at 70, and I don't necessarily want to reduce yet. I'm curious now if he's going to spike in the next 2 and a half hours..

I have a preliminary question about reduction. I know over 5 units, the increments are half units, but if he drops well under 70, like 60 or lower (and it's legit, 2 tests back to back).. Could I pull back to 5.25 instead of 5, or should I take the dose back to 5?

You have to learn what works for Sly. Some cats are OK with smaller reductions, some need the larger. If around to monitor, you can experiment. Also depends how low he goes, 69 or 49 for example.

Yes, that's why I did a double test both times he went under 70. I'm ok with anything 65 or above, but I get nervous I'll see a 53 like the last time we were at this dose. In that case I would take the full reduction.

Ok, will keep my eyes on him and his numbers!
