Waffled a bit on starting dose given his hesitation to eat and overall poor demeanor but started at 1 unit per the vet. Wondering if a high BG when it comes on so quick can cause such extreme malaise in a cat? Vet suspects "something" else is also going on. Won't have much more info until Monday. For now he tested negative for ketones at the vet and negative for leukemia. She was concerned about his teeth and believes there is likely an infection in a particular area and while it is definitely something to get addressed she seemed more concerned about what we might find in the bloodwork and wanted to get those results first before we talked teeth next steps. If he declines over the weekend further I may need to go to emerg. My poor Herm. Feels like this happened so fast. :(

I don’t know if she checked for pancreatis. I will call office in the morning.
A snap test can be done in office (if your vet has them) and gives a yes or no but no numbers. I believe you have to send out blood to get numeric values.

Has he had a confirmed poop yet?

I’m trusting the vet clinic took a temp and it was normal? Any sign of dehydration (tacky gums or skin remains tented when pulled up)?

All of those things, along with high BG (especially if he’s been running in normal numbers lately), can make them feel punky. I used to know Charlie’s BG was high when he’d lie around rather than be in the middle of the action.

Hoping Herm feels better soon. Poor boy, they’re such a worry…

I don’t know if that was taken in office but we should have blood results Monday. No confirmed poop yet. Temp was normal. Yesterday he did seem a little dehydrated. Yes they really are a worry! :nailbiting:
