My Gideon Blue is bouncing still. Last evening at +3 his BG =230. Since he wasn't that far into the cycle, my husband gave him some 8-9% Nulo. He set his alarm to retest at +6 and Gideon's BG was 114. Fearing he would drop more, my husband took the Fancy Feast Medley food out of the emergency kit, and gave it to Gideon. This flavor is 15% carbs (thought he fed 20%). Well, my husband just woke to pick up the food, and decided to test Gideon, and at +9.75 he bounced to 439! In this scenario, is there anything I could have done differently, other than test every hour, which I can't expect my husband to do?

We have been struggling with bounces and slides too with Cosmo that happen every 3-4 days. No advice to give, as we haven't been able to stop his rebounds, but understand how frustrating it can be :bighug: Hang in there!

I will retest at +5 since he is coming down into the YELLOW range at +3. He is currently eating some 0 carb food that he likes a lot. He doesn't eat the same foods every day, but I do try to keep him below 6% carbs. I use Fancy Feast Medleys (specific flavors) to increase his glucose when he goes in the GREEN.

At +5 Gideon dropped to 74. I fed some 13% carb food and at +5.5 he came up to 119. I just gave him some more of the 13% carb food and will retest at +6.

    +6 = 164.

I will test at +3. If he is below 300, should I retest at +6? If he goes to GREEN, what percentage carb should I feed? I fed 13% today. I think I have 15 & 20% in the emergency kit. I think I need to review the cat food list again, and have all sorts of 10-20% carb food on hand.

Same thing you did today when he went low...

He's got a lot of territory to cover from the 500's...

So, if he is above 300 at +3, is he good for the night?
If he is below 300 at +3, do I set an alarm to test at +5?

It's hard to say since most nights you're not getting another test late in the night..

If it were Luci I would not get back up if she had a 300 at 3+,but every cat is different...

You can leave food down if you think he's going to go lower than that...Luci has a snack in the auto-feeder every night at 2:30 a.m.

For what it is worth, I would test Cosmo at +6 if he came down to the 300's at +3 from a 500 PMPS.

Hope you had a great day!

:bighug::bighug::bighug: You need to figure out how to get sleep. Working nights and then staying up with him isn’t good for you.

I will be fine. I only do the overnights 3 times per week. I normally don't work Monday nights, but did this week.
Today, I have to figure out how often to test my bouncy boy. This morning I think I will test +2, +4 and +6. Then see what his numbers are doing.
It was scary with him staying in the BLACK so long.
Also, this morning I opened a new Lantus pen. I used the previous one completely.
Thanks for your guidance. I so appreciate it.
