I'm not sure how well it will work if it's "grazed" on, if he won't take it in food I'd be more inclined to just administer via oral syringe.
He ended up eating all of the food. It did take him 3-4 trips to the bowl before he got it all down. Since side effects and spaced dosings for some cats and since it was early, I figured wouldn’t hurt for first dose. But yes, we’ll have to see if he gobbles it up this morning or not. Agree if he doesn’t, we may just squirt in his mouth.

Benazapril (similar to Enalapril) had no impact on Neko's numbers, but it was important for her kidneys to get the proteinuria controlled. I wouldn't wait too long on it.
I went ahead and started it last night. This is interesting though (note red circles):

What flavour of cabergoline did you get? The oddest one I heard was bacon marshmallow - but the cat actually liked it. Where did you get it compounded?
Fish flavored Cabergoline. Maybe he’d like marshmallows better! Got it compounded at Wedgewood pharmacy. Apparently they have New Jersey and Arizona lab locations.

Paws crossed for early success with it! As Melissa said, highlighting when you start cabergoline is important. Maybe even putting start date in the signature if you have room, or at least mentioning it as it can impact BG's strongly.
Done and done. It’s in both places now.

I'd keep on trucking with his Lantus dose. If you don't even get low blues tonight, you can go to 5 units tomorrow AM. Once you get to 5 units total dose, increases can be by 0.5 units at a time, unless you are just tweaking a pretty good dose with greens, then you can do 0.25 units changes. Cats vary how sensitive they are to small changes, so you'll just have to see if smaller changes are effective for George or not.
Moving to 5 this morning.

Question: @Wendy&Neko & @FrostD, how quickly does Cabergoline start to work? Immediately? Or does it have to build in his system for a few days or weeks?

On a cat taking it every day, the quickest I've seen is 10 days I think? Longer if EOD.
K. I’m giving every day. Gave today with food again. He’s eating it up pretty well, so I’d rather do that than squirt Med in his mouth. Poor cat is already getting so many pokes and his Amlodipine shoved down his throat… His vet thought ok to be on both Amlodipine & Enalapril. Said his BP was still high on Amlodipine so won’t hurt to continue it. We are going to keep an eye on his BP to ensure it doesn’t get too low with all 3 meds (Amlodipine, Enalapril, and Cabergoline).

May sound odd to say, but I’m relieved that it doesn’t start working immediately bc his numbers aren’t moving. I really hope it works for him and we can skip the SRT path… Time will tell!

Take a look at my SS from July of last year. Mr Kitty is more of an anomaly with it, but he started dropping dose/doing odd things almost immediately, OTJ by Day 11.

2-6 weeks seems about the average?
