Thinking yesterday was a bounce day (ughhhhh)

Tonight she will get 1/2 dose insulin (so she doesn’t drop too low overnight) since I will be fasting her for lab work tomorrow morning at the vet.
She will get gabapentin and trazodone tonight so it’s in her system. Then again tomorrow morning a few hours before we go to the vet and she will also not getting insulin tomorrow morning (so that she won’t drop too low since I can’t feed her).
Next day or two will be not so great until we can get on the other side of this and get her Depot and stabilized again :blackeye:

Will be testing to check how her methimazole dose is doing with her T4 and other values.

I also need to get a urine sample and of course that’s always a challenge. This morning she actually peed in front of me and it didn’t dawn on me to catch it in a cup since it’s a day before the appointment.
That was completely stupid because I could’ve run it over to the vet’s office, but I just wasn’t thinking fast enough. I’m not at my best at 6 AM :blackeye:

Morning Staci, I know how both of you hate to go through this routine . I hope all the blood work comes back fine and the T4 level has come down . At 6 AM I wouldn't have thought to run and get a cup either to catch the urine . I hope you and Ivy have a nice day :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

Morning Staci, I wouldn’t sweat the numbers these next couple days although it might feel like losing progress. She will recover. Good luck with the vet visit, hopefully it’s not too stressful.
 
Hi Staci,

I hope all goes well with the vet visit and that the labs will show the results you're looking for. Just think how nice it will be when the ordeal is over and you can get back to normal feeding and dosing.

Too bad about the missed pee-catching opportunity, but I can certainly sympathize with not being at your best at 6 am. My eyes don't open before 7, and most mornings it takes :coffee::coffee: before I'm coherent. You are doing a great job, and Ivy is a lucky lady to have your TLC.

I can just imagine how much tension you are feeling right now. I keep my fingers crossed everything goes well. You have a perfect routine with Ivy and you know what works. And it is just a matter of time, her numbers get better again.

I hope you can catch some urine before you go tomorrow. If not, you can always hand it in later. At six in the morning, I could barely manage to catch my own urine. :rolleyes:

Hi Heike, thank you for the sweet support! I was so annoyed with my self I was talking to myself like a nut when DH walked in and wondered what was going on :p

I’m so unhappy with her flat yellow cycles and I want to get past tomorrow and let her depot reset and try to figure out that’s going on with her.

I did use the shorter needle syringe (the 6 mm) and I keep wondering if it’s just not long enough and getting the insulin in under the skin where it needs to go.
Or, is she just bouncing or just too high… so many questions in my mind.
But I just have to move forward and get through the visit tomorrow and then make some decisions in the days after things reestablish.

Hi Karen , thank you so much for the support supportive good wishes. I really appreciate them.
I’m the same as you early in the morning, I definitely need my coffee to get moving. But I do get up at 5:30 to get things ready for Ivy and her a.m. cycle. It’s not a great time of the morning for me. I am not an early morning person to begin with so this is really tough on me.

Hoping tomorrow goes well, and I’ll be looking forward to tomorrow night and letting her try to relax and recover from everything.

I agree, I’m trying to look last tomorrow and get through it all. It’s so stressful since I have to sedate and fast her. A whole ordeal!

Hi Staci, I know Ivy already saw better numbers so I understand, this makes you unhappy. But look where she started! I went back in her ss to January last year and this was a whole different world with lots of rollercoaster cycles. Maybe last year you would have done anything for cycles she is having now. So you are doing an amazing job day by day. ❤️

So take a deep breath and see what the days after the vet visit bring. I think that it's good to keep in mind there is change in needels. Maybe write it in your ss so you can compare. Do you still have 8 mm?

Best of luck on the labs, Staci, I know it is very stressful! Ivy, don't be too spicy to all the nice people at the vet. Or actually, do your thing, do you.
