It’s a good thing you know what you’re doing and Bella is so stable, Cecile! Hope you all had fun last night!yesterday
I know it's not ideal, but after shooting 1.5 hours late yesterday evening (school event that lasted longer than I thought), I went back one hour this morning, so I will be able to get back to every 12 hours sooner. So today was just 30 minutes past her regular time.

Thank you, Shelly. Sadly it's not new, they have been going to school while hearing about shootings and having to practice "active shooter drills" and lockdowns and all that kind of things, and there has been fights in our school more and more in the last few years. We have large groups of kids who live in North Minneapolis, where there are gangs and violence, and that's visible in our schools as well. Our administration is not always responding with enough discipline, kids get away with fighting, smoking pot and things like that that are illegal and should not be accepted at school. That last fight was particularly bad since adults from outside the school got involved and the police made some arrests. They were all released after a few hours.Hi Cecile. How are your kids after what happened in the school?

Thank you, Jason. 87 at +3 and she's acting like she is starving, as usual. I'm glad you're back from the ice storm! She'll come down, Bella has some of the best numbers around here...![]()
I'm sorry ro hear all that, Cecile. I can imagine what this kind of ongoing stress is doing to their nervous system. Sadly, being an Israeli, I know quite a lot about living under constant pressure and threat of violence. You may not seem afraid but the nervous system gets desensitised and over all it's not a healthy place to be in. Not for the long run. I'm happy to hear they have such an amazing outlet for all this pressure. Music is highly healing.Thank you, Shelly. We went to the school play yesterday evening, there were not many people there (it was moved from the high school to the middle school beforehand, which is why it was still on) and the ambiance was quite different from usually. The kids are maybe not scared, but tired of all this violence and resigned, which is what makes me very sad. I don't know what will be the situation next week, I read that school will be on but with a large police presence, which is quite concerning (not the fact that the police will be there per se, but the reason why they need to be there, to be clear).
Today they are both at an orchestra retreat, they are both in the city's youth symphony, so that's a day of music and nothing to do with school, which is great.

I agree 100% violence is growing everywhere and it makes me long for the simpler days when I was on school.Thank you @Fistuk & Shelly Shelly and Rain @Rainbow Conti
I've been afraid since they started school. I try to stay calm, I know being anxious all day will do nothing to avoid anything. Shelly, as I was answering you yesterday I was thinking exactly what you wrote, that you must understand and live that on a huge scale. It is all so sad.
My daughter wants to go to college in Canada. It somehow seems more peaceful, but even there violence is growing. I agree, the worst part is getting used to it, because then it starts being the new normal.
Yes, about cellphones. My kids have them now (they are in high school), but my daughter forgets hers home or lets the battery die, so it's not very useful. My son has a flip phone, he does not want a smart phone but he usually has it and can text very fast even on that! he got it when he started high school. I am glad he has it now. My son was completely oblivious to the fights on Thursday, he had no idea anything happened. His mind is full of music and he lives in his world, which is a blessing, I think!I agree 100% violence is growing everywhere and it makes me long for the simpler days when I was on school.
I can imagine your worry every day. Best we can do is stay informed make sure our children are informed. And I was never big on my kids having cell phones (they became a bigger deal as mine were becoming teens) but now I'm so thankful my granddaughter has one and could contact any of us if ever needed
