(Wrong way Ivy)

Good morning all. I like a yellow start better than pink or red. Very flat yellow past 2 cycles.
Back to work today. Meeting with nutritionist at 1 pm.
I’m using the roll method to shoot. I may have not gotten a good 45° angle today. Hoping the shot was subq and not just under the skin :(
Ivy doesn’t have a good loose skin situation to make big tents. Always been an issue for me.
(I watch videos and see these large tents of skin to get a needle at the base. We don’t have that.) Anyone else have a similar experience??

Have a great Monday all. Safe surfing to the kitties :cat:

Good morning Staci,
+1 must have been a food bump!
She's correctly heading south! Let's go Ivy!

Mikan's got dense fur so really hard to see, with the tent method. I can't really see where the base and feel unsure if I'm really getting it done.
So I tried the roll method but couldn't quite figure that out.
I've been sort of doing a compromised roll method of making a small tent while lifting her fur to see (trying at least) skin where I shoot.
It is nice to be able to see that the needle actually goes in to make sure I'm shooting in!

Hope you and Ivy have a great day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Kit, I can’t believe I still struggle with correct injections at this stage. But trying to get comfortable with the roll method. Ivy also has long fur and it’s also dense. And no loose skin to pull up like a nice floppy tent. :(
Sometimes I question if I was effective.
Then she drops, like now, in a bounce breaking cycle so I know she got her insulin!

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess we all have to figure out what works. A work in progress every day.
Stay warm and enjoy your Monday (is that possible?) :bighug::bighug::bighug:

+2.75 157 on Libre
Fed 1 tsp 9.25% to try to slow her drop so maybe she can coast a little softer.
Hoping I don’t shorten her duration by giving a little higher carb. I do think she will continue her drop this am. Glad I’m working at home to watch her closely.

Kit's fur is pretty dense too, as well as not a lot of loose skin - so I empathize. I've been, apparently, doing the roll method the whole time? Or at least something very similar. Do I smell her fur after every shot? Yuuup. I also went through the link the Marje posted about shooting techniques because I had a moment of "oh crap, am I doing this all wrong?" The struggle and stress is real. You're doing great! :bighug:

Hi Staci!
Sub-cutaneous means litterally under the skin, you should be good :-) if you roll her skin, you cannot really shoot anywhere else, as long as you're not out, of course.
Bella's fur is so dense, I cannot see her skin!
Have a good day! I hope miss Ivy slides down gently now.

Oh that's super helpful, Cecile. Thanks so much for confirming. I smell her fur every time and no Lantus yucky smell. :)
(Sometimes I have gone deeper and she screams.)

Hi Alicia, yep I read and re-read Marje's post a million times just to be sure, as well. Good for you for doing it correctly all along! Keep smelling that fur :):bighug:

Sweet Ivy, let's turn on google maps and head south where the beach is. Nestle is still chilling there this AM but he needs company to stay there as he's slowly getting bored? (creeping up)
Come on sweet girl you can do it!

I was shooting way too deep for months, I felt so bad when I realized. That's actually what brought me here, I was looking for videos of how to inject insulin to a diabetic cat :)
Wow, that's so interesting. I am sure it was something similar for me. I think it was COMPLETE lack of guidance by my at the time vet. And complete confusion!!

Good morning, Karolina,
She still needs her GPS re-calibrated. Maybe she prefers an old school paper map. She is forgetting the beach, thinks she's a snow bunny (since there's snow in my backyard. She was just watching her birdies).
Hope Nestle gets some company at the beach and you both have a great Monday :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Same for Fistuk.
And I realise I forget to soot 45 degrees :banghead: I keep it parallel. OMG so many details....
Happy Ivy is moving in the right direction since morning :bighug::bighug::bighug:
So many details to control! I agree, will it ever get easier? But according to Cecile, as long as it is under the skin, we are good! I like that.
Hope you all had a good day, Shelly :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Well I just gave a big ugly Fur Shot. I could cry.
She jerked 2X and my final attempt I just saw a puddle of insulin on top of her fur. Arggggg. I don’t know the last time we had a FS it’s been so long.
So much for a better cycle tonight. Guess I’ll be going to bed early.
Poor girl! :(

I hope you are also amused - I definitely was referencing Mikan's momma. But I'm sure Kit the cat would also tell you that. Well, if you gave her treats. Although she might tell you whatever you want to hear depending on the treat. :bighug::bighug:
Lol. This just shows you how upset I was. I thought you meant Kit cat was sending me that message. It’s even funnier reading this dialogue today and @Mikanmama response and then yours. Love you both!
