i think the fattened dose has been helping cleo. don't think we've hit the target dose yet, tho, hoping for numbers to even out more and guessing we'll go up a little more in dose. she used to be a 0.75u kitty but the steroid and other drugs/health issues are having an effect.
i think the lantus pen was less effective than the cartridges. took longer for insulin to draw into the syringe, and she's needed more insulin. just a theory, tho. we'll see how she does on the 2nd pen in a few weeks.
she woke me up early today and it turned out she needed a pee break. harry (the monster) would have just gone on the rug. took me a while to figure out what she wanted coz i didn't want to leave the bed or room. gave her wet, she wouldn't go for it, gave her dry, she ate that, but she continued to meow at me on the bed so i finally opened the door and she skedaddled.
the 159 is pretty darned good a couple hours after dry. gives me a little more hope of keeping her more in blues.
Cleo has lymphoma and is on CCNU (chemo) + prednisolone.
Inappetance/steroid are big considerations in dosing. She had liver issues (cholangiohepatitis) but those #s are improving.
She's on lantus, prednisolone, methylB12, mirtazapine, cerenia, famotadine, ondansetron, denamarin, B12, B complex, sucralfate (anemia).
Fluids daily for punky feeling from chemo. And her kidney values have worsened.
Numbers have been running too high so we need to get them down per vet, and are working to figure out how to balance everything to get her relatively regulated but safe.
We've done the sugar dance with PZI then Lantus for 2.5 yrs but request input esp from lantus users with steroid/chemo experience.
