Hello all,

It was a quiet night for Basil last night. And he starts the day with a nice 93.

A question: Is there a need for a larger amount if food at shot times, or is it okay to, say divide his food into 6 or so equal amount distributed though the day ad night? Right now, he gets about 2/3 of his food at shot time. But, especially in the morning, he often does not finish it and I end up giving it to him later. So, I'm thinking of making a change in the process.

Have a great day, kitties. Be kind to your beans.

ohhh interesting... ;-)
my best suggestion is, and this worked well for Luna, and yes - ECID, .... as numbers got better, doses got smaller, his snacks got smaller (easy on the healing pancreass)and spread out.... his main meal servings always stayed the same, but gradually, he wouldn't woof it all down and began to graze and take his time.

if u wanna make changes, I would suggest go slow, track what u serve, note in SS, and go from there.

other than that - Basil is doing very good!

PS: yesterdays link? :-D

Lydia, basil is looking so amazing.
Wow and only a month. Terrific job.

As Ronnie said, ECID but from a BG perspective, it is good to space out the meals so that the you try and maintain a constant BG level as well, from what I think. It is easier on the body to eat througjout the day then "duumping" lots of food at one time.

You'll figure it out!! Do you have a feeder you can try?
Have a great day!

Re: 1/30 Basil AMPS=93

Hi Randi,

I don't have a timed feeder (yet). My husband and I both work from home (I'm a writer) and so we have more options than most along the line of serving up the food--if we remember to do it! Early in his FD career, Basil would cruise for food and be very demanding. Now, he rarely gets worked up about being hungry. He eats more slowly (his sister and Emmett the drooler beat him at eating speed hands down) and he is content to leave some when he's had enough. Very different.

I'm totally amazed at how well Basil is doing! I look at that spreadsheet and can't get over how lucky we have been.

Good luck with the new dose....Basil's SS is just SO pretty...I love it! (and the numbers are terrific too!)
And I smile every time I see his picture...that is just so very cute...how adorable!
Hope you have a great day today Lydia!!

Re: 1/30 Basil AMPS=93 +2=87 +4=80

Indeed a beautiful ss

If I were mystic Meg......

Not a problem spacing his food more evenly. As he becomes regulated, which I'd say he is now, his hunger is for natural reasons. As you've kept him in non-diabetic numbers he'stightly regulated too.

Grand job. It is a dream when you can be around to test and I can see such confidence here too.

Hope his leg is better?
