10/01 Dolly PMPS 240, gave insulin. She ate well. All is good for now.

I started Dolly on Cyproheptadine 09/29 (2mg 2 x day) last dose 09/30,6:25PM . Not increasing Appetite, not helping congestion, dry mouth, drinking a lot, making funny sound with her mouth. Eating only a few bites of wet food with FortiFlora this am. Did not eat much last night Will eat some Dr Elsey's. At what point can I give Mirtazapine. I was told Mirtazapine (last dose 09/28 7:50am transdermal) can cause serotonin syndrome and cyproheptadine is the antidote. Sorry if this is just a vet question and I've bothered you unnecessarily. She is just not eating enough. I had her at the vet all day Monday. Her tests are all negative.

I’m not sure how long cyproheptadine’s half life is but it will negate mirtazapine. What does your vet think is wrong then? Was a SpecfPL run for pancreatitis?

Looks like half life is 16 hours.

I’m not sure how long cyproheptadine’s half life is but it will negate mirtazapine. What does your vet think is wrong then? Was a SpecfPL run for pancreatitis?

I don’t think so. The food issue is from sinusitis, not smelling her food. The vet says she is fine otherwise. I check for ketones with a meter. She’s been there for blood, urine, new kidney test, chest X-rays. She is hungry, would eat a bag of treats. Just not wet food.

Vet said she could have Mirtazapine tonight. Vet is looking into Entyce appetite stimulant, off-label, approved by FDA for dogs. I looked it up and they are giving it to cats with success. Thanks everyone, wish I had an answer to the eating wet food issue. She will eat anything else. She had the hypo 09/28 and her numbers are are not great. I have read that they can have a bounce for 6 cycles/3 days., today day 3. I hope this isn't a rule breaker, (this reply) sorry, i am so exhausted I can't think. Don't mean to bother anyone.

For the first time in 3 days she really ate. I put new brand freeze dried chicken on top. Thank you all for your patience.
