Sending healing prayers to all the kitties and their caretakers that are not feeling their best
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you all for having my back last night when Dolly would not eat. There is never a day that I forget to be grateful for this forum and all of you. Dolly is eating this morning, not great but enough. All the things I have learned the last two years just disappeared and I thank you all for being my memory. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Not eating enough, will probably have to give her Dr Elseys as needed and see what answers we get with IM doctor on Tuesday.

I'm so sorry about Dolly. I just saw what you went through yesterday and could feel your concern and confusion. There is so much to always remember from this site. Having a kitty not eat is the worst feeling. You know that that is the most important aspect of their health. Looks like you had some wonderful support yesterday, Adrienne. Don't ever criticize yourself. You are one of the most caring, genuine people I know. I hope Dolly will get back into a regular routine and your visit on Tuesday will help to answer your questions. Your Dolly Girl is very pretty and she looks quite content on her little bed. I hope you were/are able to get some rest today. God bless you and know that I am sending prayers your way. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much Summer. Going to try and rest now. I know you of all people understand the fear and frustration that comes when they don’t eat. I literally watched Susie’s diabetic journey change direction right before my eyes. I may not have always commented but I was there in the background watching all you were going through, feeling all your fear, all the frustration with the vet, wanting and needing answers. So glad she is finally on the prednisolone, hope and pray this is what’s going to help her. Trust me I understand the financial part. I have dragged my heals on the CT Scan Dolly needs for her sinus tract. It’s $2500.00 and that does not include the scope and possible biopsy if any polyps or cancer is found. As for the neurological issues with her legs and twitches, I had an appointment with this same hospital and cancelled it. The costs just for diagnostics, no idea, but know it will be expensive. We are retired, we can’t go out and get a job so there is no way to bring in more money to pay off these type of bills, probably the same as you. We don’t qualify for any type of financial aid.

I hope Susie starts feeling better, doing better. I hope the FortiFlora is working, our life saver until now. I hope you can get to a doctor that is in network soon and have your eyes taken care of. I hope someone addresses your Macular Degeneration. I wish you the best for Susie and for you. I’ll be watching your posts. So glad you are getting so much help and support from this amazing forum :bighug::bighug:

I could really use some advice for Dolly :cat: She is still not eating much at all including Dr Elsey’s. Do you think it makes sense and is safe to wait until Tuesday to treat a possible sinus infection or I could call her vet and because Dolly is impossible to pill, will suggest a Covenia shot or they have given her Orbax sugar free oral suspension. If I have to wait to get a compounded med then I might as well wait until Tuesday. She has been on so many antibiotics I really fear she could be resistant to most. I also have Mirtazapine that expires 10/01/2022. The problem with that is it supposedly expires 30 days after first use, 12/2020. I also have Cyproheptadine filled 08/28/2020, says it expired 11/30/2020. She has been getting steam showers and Little Remedies sterile saline mist as much in her nose is possible, it’s a battle. I just put a call into the vet to see what he suggests. I need advice / thoughts from the people I trust most. Thanks in advance. Also, human tuna, thoughts?

I would not hesitate to try to give the expired meds. Worse thing that could happen is they are no longer as effective. If they work that would buy you time until the vet visit.

Canned tuna packed in spring water and no salt is good as are sardines.

Big hugs, Adrienne! :bighug:

Thank you Katherine. Prayers for the girls. :bighug::bighug:

I have used expired cyproheptadine. As I recall it just didn’t work quite as well. I remember I pressed a pharmacist as to whether it could be dangerous and he begrudgingly said no but not recommended. I’m not a fan of Convenia but my vet did give it a couple times to Max after a dental. In addition to how long it remains in the system if you don’t know what you are treating why give something that could be an issue or might not work so I would not use it unless sure it might help. :bighug::bighug:

Thanks Elise. Do you mean the Covenia or everything? I like the cyproheptadine because it’s an antihistamine. I don’t like that or Mirtazapine because of how she gobbled food up.

I meant convenia. I would try the cyproheptadine. It’s my go to as well. I would not use expired mirtazapine that says discard after a month.

My tuna has salt. Let’s hope the Mirtazapine works. Talked to the vet and said either that or the cyproheptadine are fine even if says expired (May or may not be as effective but not dangerous). Dolly made the decision, won’t eat a pill pocket. Her vet does not want to treat the possible sinus infection. He said to wait and see what the IM doctor says. Thanks again Katherine.

Spoke with her vet and he said to try our expired Mirtazapine or the Cyproheptadine. Dolly chose the Mirtazapine. Won’t eat a pill pocket. Her vet does not want to treat the possible sinus infection. He said to wait for Tuesday.

I have heard some people say they had pilling success putting pills in a gel cap, then putting the gel cap in a bit of Churu or other yummy treat.
Her BG is up. She ate about 1/3 can of FF lc. The most she’s eaten at one sitting. Gave her B-12 shot and pain meds. I don’t think I can give the cyproheptadine on top of the Mirtazapine. Waiting to hear from vet. No, can’t have both. Hoping the Mirtazapine will help. Maybe the B-12 will help. I haven’t given her that in a long time. It’s just so scary how things can go south so quickly with our kitties. She doesn’t seem as plugged up. This is probably something I should know but right now my brain is mush. Not eating enough raises BG because the pancreas is not getting the nutrition it needs??? Sorry, I am just lost. It’s been so good, for the most part, for so long, I’ve forgotten how I dealt with problems, this definitely was a problem some time ago. Thank you Wendy. :)

Dolly ate her dinner :joyful::cat::joyful::cat: Thank goodness for Mirtazapine :woot::woot:

Last steam shower for today at just short of +4pm. She ate some FF chicken feast.

Thanks everyone for your support. :bighug::bighug:
