Hi

Has anyone got time to look over Tig’s spreadsheet and let me know if you think I’ll be safe with the full 5u tonight? I’m okay for watching if he goes low (he’s got a Libre on and I have a hypo kit at the ready).

I gave him a little food about an hour ago and his BG is currently 72 on the Libre and is dropping.

I did previously have SLGS in my signature but I’m now thinking TR would be best for how we’re going. I haven’t had chance to use any protocol as the vet is governing his doses.

If you can, I'd stall, don't feed any more and test again in 20-30 minutes to see if he continues to drop or starts to come up

ETA: Do you know that the Libre is often wrong at lower numbers? We've seen people who used the Libre which said their cat was in hypo territory but when they re-checked with a regular meter, found they were actually in very safe green numbers. I now recommend if you get a lower number on a Libre, you should test again and make sure the information you're getting from the Libre is accurate.

Well if you're serious about going to TR, you'd go ahead and shoot the scheduled dose but you'll want to be able to stay up and get a test or two in to make sure he's safe while you're sleeping and be sure you have all the supplies you might need if he drops too low.. I'd start with a +1 and +2.

Thank you. I’ve just tested him on a pet meter and he is 104 (I don’t have a human meter). I’ll prepare for a sleepless night).

You might want to consider a human meter. The Libre is a human meter! (which most vets are more than happy to use, while telling people they can't use a human meter because it wouldn't be accurate)

I do like the Libre for giving an idea of low or high numbers, and just alerting me to watch out. I may well get a human meter, the way I’m going through pet strips is expensive (although the insurance pays I’m sure they’ll get it back through my premiums!)

Hi Chris, glad Tig came up for you today.
I also like the Libre to alert me to watch out for highs and lows. Then I test with an ear prick on a hand held meter if Ivy drops very low on the Libre. It’s a useful device to keep you aware.
