Good morning,
A yellow start to today. Let’s see if we can hit some nice low blues at least.

We still have itching and licking/biting going on. Using a small 12.5 mg dose of gabapentin x2 and other calming & anti allergic/antihistamine.
Wish she would cut it out. Not sure if more stressful for me or her :(

Have a great day everyone. Safe surfing

Smudge and Penny seem to be itching a lot more when I have the windows open. Wondering if the allergens from leaves falling are irritating them a bit.

Time to get low Ivy! Nice and steady. :)

Aw poor little Ivy! My dogs are also very itchy right now, so maybe it is the season for it. I know it is hard to see them uncomfortable. I'm sure all you're doing for her will pay off soon--sometimes it takes allergies a little time to subside if that is what it is. Have a wonderful day! :D

Thanks for the encouragement, Alli. I hope she will listen to you about getting low. I’ll tell her you said so….:bighug::bighug:
Interesting about the itching. I don’t have the windows open too often. Just a little when she’s sitting by the back door, and I like her to be able to sniff the outdoors.
But I do think she has some form of allergies, the vet has agreed, and we are treating for several months.
Just seems to be a real flareup of late and there is this spot that she’s fussing with where Previous Libre was sitting, so she may have just had some skin irritation, and then keeps bothering it, which keeps it from completely dissipating. Ugh.

Nothing is easy! :(

Thanks for letting me know about your doggies, Gabrielle. Sorry they are itching, though.
This itching and licking behavior is newer to Ivy.
Never had it before this Spring , which coincides with a few months after we started using a Libre.
I don’t know if it’s related to that or just that she had allergies start kicking in at that point, a few months after she started with diabetes.
It’s hard to pinpoint and figure everything out.
You know all about trying to decipher the clues with Cooper as well. :bighug::bighug:

For the short period of time that Cooper had a Libre (it kept falling off), he did get a spot that was very irritated and a rash that was bleeding because he kept scratching it! That was a big reason why I opted to not get another one put on, besides that they wouldn't stay on his boney shoulders lol. Yes, I know all too well the frustrations of these mystery ailments lol! The good thing is that Ivy has you looking out for her and noticing these things. You'll figure it out, I know it! :)

Morning Staci, Come on pretty girl, let' see some nice blues and make mama happy.
I hope the itching let's up poor baby, I know it breaks our heart when we see that they are uncomfortable, you're doing everything you can . :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci!
Sorry that poor Ivy's itching problem. It sure is stressful for you.
Some people around me are having a really bad allergy thing going this fall, saying that it is really bad this year.
Hope Ivy starts feeling better soon :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I use Zyrtec for my day with skin allergies. She gets half a regular strength 10 mg pill daily. It’s Cetirzine hc as you might not have Zyrtec where you live.

I’m giving Chlorpherniramine meate 4 mg (antihistamine) 1/2 tablet which comes to 2 mg a day.

Do you think I should try what I’m using 2X a day or try the Zyrtec?
Does it keep your kitty from itching?

Flat yellow cycle. Still would like to see some blues but I guess she’s higher since she had some blues yesterday.

It’s helped Mocha a lot and only once a day. I put it in her food. I cost it in food and make a little ball and she doesn’t even know it’s there.

Do you know if there’s something safe to apply topically that would be anti itch or healing balm (like neosporin, which I know isn’t safe for cats) ?

I use Zyrtec for Bella too, she is usually itchy in the spring and summer, she would scratch and even pull hair on her belly and head. I brak it into a powder with a spoon and mix it with her food, she does not mind. She would not eat it whole. I give her a half tablet a day.

That’s how I give the antihistamine I’m using at present. Ivy doesn’t seem to notice. She gets multiple meds & supplements mixed in her food. Thanks, Cecile.

Sorry to hear Ivy is suffering :( It's tough to see them suffering. You take such good care of her it's touching :bighug:
Ivy, give your mummy some blues:kiss:

Where do you live that you're in the spring now, Staci ?

Hi Shelly,
It’s only this year but she seems to have developed some allergies. And there also seems to be some annoyance that she has to wear a T-shirt to cover her libre or else she will rip it off, so we have multiple factors going on.
It’s actually Fall here on the East coast of the US where we live, but from what I understand a lot of people and pets are struggling with allergies now.
Lots to manage at the same time as you know. It’s never simple or easy.
Thank you for your care and support, much appreciated :bighug::bighug::bighug:
