Good morning,
Ivy had a blue and yellow day yesterday on the Libre.
She stayed yellow last night as we had to be out for a family dinner for a few hours. (I fed her 12.5% carbs and she stayed boosted. Just got lucky she had a higher cycle).
Who knows where she’s headed today. :bookworm:
Grocery shopping for me and a flu shot. Sounds fun, right?? ;)
(I can’t afford to get sick. I’m the only caregiver for my girl!)

Have a safe surf everyone :cat:

Good luck with your shot. I did the shingles vaccine a few weeks ago and that was brutal. I wanted to do all 3 together but the nurse talked me out of it :blackeye:
Have a good day, Staci!

Good luck with your shot, Staci! The combo flu/covid shot has been a multi-day affair for me, but I think it is primarily the Covid shot that knocked me on my butt. The arm I got the flu shot in was fine after a night, where the Covid shot arm is still sore 3 days later. Hope it doesn't affect you much, I'm sure Ivy wouldn't allow you to take a sick day, she is a very strict boss :D

You think like I do, Cecile. Just give them all to me and let me get it over with in one go! Good on you for getting the shingles vaccine, I've known a few folks that have gotten shingles in the last year and it has been extremely rough on them. Sorry the shot was so rough for you.

Thanks, Cecile. I’ve so done the shingles shot (2 doses). It does knock you out. but if it keeps me from getting shingles, I’m good with that. It’s just not worth the risk risks.

I actually had shingles once maybe around 15 years ago and it was very painful.
They say stress can bring it on and I was having a lot of stress at that time so it made sense why I got it.

I probably had a somewhat mild case and realized I certainly don’t want that again, so I was happy to get the shot when I was eligible.

Thanks, Seth. I’m glad you are feeling better.
I had the Covid shot a few weeks ago, I opted to separate them. Probably the only reason I separated them is I like to wait until October to get my flu shot. Just my personal preference so that it lasts me through the entire winter.
But I agree, with the Covid shot my arm was hurting for a few days and I felt kind of crappy for a few days and then it was over. Nothing too terrible, just not great.
But I do feel it’s worth it to have a few days of meh and hopefully I can avoid this dangerous and nasty virus.

And yes, my cat boss does absolutely not allow me to take a day off so that’s primary to my attempt to stay healthy

Hi Staci,
Looks like Ivy's coming down nicely
Keep at it sweet girl!;)

I had a flu shot in mid-September, and I had a Covid vax last Friday. I didn't have any reaction to the flu shot. Kind of felt out of sorts a bit with the Covid shot for a day and half, but because of my DH's COVID fiasco, and stress overrode everything there  I did have those Shingles shots - that was the toughest for me. My underarm was hurting so badly for a while after the shot. I hope your flu shot goes well, Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm contemplating trying to see if they'll give me the shingles shot. I'm "too young" for it, but folks are getting it younger and younger, and I've heard that folks who had chicken pox can get it worse? And I had a pretty epic case of chicken pox, so shingles sound like not anything I want. Maybe I'll ask the pharmacist when I schedule my covid vaccine.

Good luck with the flu shot! I hope your reaction, if any at all, is mild. Sending "team no reaction" vibes. :bighug:

Yeah, you can think of shingles as “phase 2” of chickenpox. It is the same virus that lays dormant in your nervous system from your chickenpox infection. So a person who has never had chickenpox can get chickenpox from someone with shingles, if that makes sense. But if you’ve never had chickenpox or the chickenpox vaccine, I don’t think you can get shingles.

I think they usually recommend it for folks 50 and up, unless you are immunocompromised, but I’m sure there’s wiggle room there. Worth a conversation with your doc. It does not seem fun at all, yeesh

Oh gosh, the shingles vaccine ... it knocked me flat for a day and a half. NOT FUN. But it's two shots and you're done, so it seems worth it to not have to worry about getting shingles from then on.

I hope you enjoyed the family dinner last night! Good luck with your shot today, and safe surfing to sweet Ivy :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci,
wow, such a nice string of blue again!:cool::cool: So happy everything went well, while you've been out last night. I hope you enjoyed it!

Good luck for the flu shot! I have to think about it too but I am not sure, if I should get it this year. I'm sitting home most of the time now, so I can't even get a flu. :)

Hope Ivy continues to give you nice numbers. Send you a big hug and a chin scratch for Ivy! :bighug::kiss::bighug:

Hi Kit, yeah these shots can be dicey. But I still think it’s better than the diseases they prevent us from getting.
I did get my vaccine today and hoping I feel ok. At least I can recover over the weekend.
Actually, I convinced DH and my son to go today as well to get their shots, too. So we may all be miserable together :p

I hope you’ve all had a good day and DH is feeling better still each day.
Kisses to Mikan for a safe surf tonight :bighug::kiss:

Thanks, Alicia. I do think it’s worth discussing with your doctor. Especially since you had an epic case of chickenpox. I can barely remember having it, but I do remember having it as a young child but I don’t remember it being epic. I hope you got some good advice because it would not be fun to see you have to deal with that. Thanks for the good wishes. Hope all is well And you all have a safe surf and relaxing night.:bighug::kiss::bighug:

Same for me Karen. That was the roughest shot I can remember. Both me and DH were miserable after getting that one.
Glad that is over!!

Also glad the dinner is over last night. It was at the in-laws. (Let’s just say I go out of obligation to DH).

I’d always rather be home with my sweet kitty girl :cat:

I hope you and Chispa have a lovely night. Kisses to your sweet girl :bighug::kiss:

Hi Heike,
I’m sure the extra carbs helped Ivy stay stable last night plus she just happened to be in a cycle where she wasn’t going too low. It’s always a relief when that happens because sometimes when we go out and she’s low to begin with, it’s a very stressful night for me worrying about her.

She’s looking like she wants to go lower tonight so I have a sneaky suspicion. It could be one of those crazy nights around here. She’s already low at her PMPS.

I hope you and Binie are having a cozy night and maybe already sleeping.
I hope she’s doing well.
Sending lots of hugs and kisses.:bighug::kiss:
