Happy Friday :cat:

I wish I never had to go into the office lol. Especially since he's been dropping low so early in his cycle lately. I gave him a little MC with his LC this morning to try to combat that. I just hope he eats it all since I won't be here to remind him. Usually when I'm home I go in there multiple times and place him in front of his plate and he's like, "Oh, hey! Food! Yum!" That boy.

Is it okay that he grazes now? I don't know if that is what has changed his cycle pattern or if it's something else since he has actually been eating this way for some time now.

Good morning Gabrielle,
Cooper is doing so well! :)
A lot of people leave food around when they go to work - I'm sure people will chime in about this issue.
Some use the autofeeder, as I understand.
I have some LC around just in case for Mikan but it's rare that she eats it.
Hope Cooper cruises nicely today for you :bighug:

I used to do the auto-feeder back when he was still his food fiend self lol! He worshipped it for the longest time, but not so much anymore. I just wonder if it's because he isn't eating a full meal right away like he used to, he eats the meal itself in short bursts. Before it was maybe a teaspoon for a snack, but now it could be a lot more depending on how much he wants to eat of his meal at that point in time lol. I'm just happy he is eating though!! Beggars can't be choosers. ;)

I've always had to leave Smudge's breakfast out for him - he eats it over a 2hr period usually and sometimes leaves a teaspoon or so for an afternoon snack. He seems to know what his body needs and when. I think it's fine to leave out, especially if you can't monitor and have been having lows. :cat:

Ah, yes, Cooper seems to be doing the same thing! I guess I just need to trust him more. Hard to put trust in him since he wasn't eating nearly at all before, so I always worry that is happening again. I think we are over that for now though, so I'll just let him keep doing what he's doing. :)

How's his appetite overall? I agree with @allicatmeow and grazing is perfectly fine. It's like they're feeding their own curve. Smart little buggers :p

He's been doing really well! He is eating all of his meals, maybe leaving a few teaspoons behind, but that's it. His brother has been disappointed when he tries to sneak in to steal his food and there is nothing left lol. Thank you for the reassurance!

Morning Gabrielle ,I'm sure Cooper will be fine grazing is fine,
Tyler doesn't like to be disturbed when he's sleeping either, not to feed him , I have to wake him up sometimes because he is snoring up a storm lol
Even though he's been in remission since 1-24-21 thanks to this group and their advice he wakes me up everyday around 4:30 AM for food ,I can barely drag myself out of bed lol. Then maybe again around 6:30 AM .
Right now he sleeping like a baby and I've been up since 6:00 AM
Thank you Tyler :p
Have a nice day Gabrielle
Surf safely Cooper :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

Hi Gabrielle, Cooper looks wonderful and I’m so so happy that he’s eating well for you.
It sounds like you’ve gotten good advice on leaving food out for him and hopefully if he feels he needs the food he will find it.

Cooper, have a safe surf today and I hope your day at work is not too awful.
Have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much, Staci! Wish I could bring Cooper to work in my pocket, it would make the day better. :cat:

Not sure why Cooper is just sitting so low right now...he ate all of his dinner very slowly, finished it around +4, and it included some MC (12%). Gave a snack (LC) at +5, and still not going up! Can/should I give a snack of MC now or is it too late? I really expected him to be going up significantly by now.

@Bandit's Mom If you are around, I'm sorry to bother you! Probably a silly question, but I can't remember exactly, I thought someone said it could be a bad idea to give higher carb snacks too late in the cycle?

You can feed him MC if you want. The downside is shortening duration and possibly higher AMPS. In general it's not good to feed higher carbs after nadir, but in a specific situation where you need him higher, it's OK.

As long as he is flat and hasn't dropped 2 hours after the last MC/HC snack, you are okay to stay with LC and call it a night. It's late in the cycle anyway.
The reason you don't feed carbs late in the cycle is because feeding carbs after the nadir can counteract insulin action (which is already on the wane) causing loss of duration and numbers go up.

Thank you both! :)
I ended up giving him a tsp of the MC right before I saw these replies. Glad I actually remembered that correctly lol. I tested again, but it was only 20 minutes after my +7 test and it's still 56. Do I need to set an alarm for later or he'll be okay now?
