11/10 Ruby AMPS 257 ultrasound is great!

Hugs and prayers for a good ultrasound report :bighug::bighug::bighug:
I also want to thank you again for the info about raw feeding. We got out first shipment from Raw Feeding Miami last week and Callie is loving it! :cat:
Oh great! I am so glad she likes the raw! Are you using EZ Complete with it? What kinds of meats did you get from RFM? My kitties love the venison but I can only afford a 2.5 lb bag once a shipment. Right now they are eating pork and chicken.

Ha, I hear that! These kitties are nothing if not expensive (tho totally worth it!!)

We're mixing with Alnutrin and we got bison, pork and venison to start. I wanted to stick w/ novel proteins because of Callie's allergies and she didn't do well with (canned) lamb or rabbit when I tried them recently.

I couldn't believe how well packed it all was (and still completely frozen!) RFM does a really nice job. So far we've only made the bison but I was barely able to keep Callie's face out of the bowl as I was mixing the first batch and she has since licked every plate I've given her with it clean ... so she's definitely a fan of their meat! And a happy kitty = a happy mama :) Now we just need a bigger freezer! ;)

Waiting for Ruby's report. I will be out for several hours but will check back in around 10 p.m. (Eastern - so 7 p.m. your current Pacific time). Paws all crossed here!

Great news! :woot: Oncologist said that there is no sign of thickening in Ruby’s intestines, so her SCL is in remission. We’re going to continue giving her the pred for another 6 months during which we will do another ultrasound and then if all signs are still good, we taper off the pred. Her bloodwork looks great, her kidney values are lower than before. :cat: Very relieved to get this information and hope Ruby continues on this good path.

Thank you all for the support and encouragement. Could never get through any of this without you out there cheering us on. :bighug:

RFM does a really nice job.
I love RFM! If you have any questions at all about shipping or even what to feed Callie, the woman who runs the company, Carla, is wonderful! Very responsive to emails and is super nice. I buy about 20 lbs at a time from them as I hate shipping small amounts and paying for it. Since we moved the only thing we have in our new freezer is meat for cats. :cat: The 20 lbs lasts us for about 6 weeks, which is ok. The only tricky thing is ordering meats during the summer as there is a high probability of things melting before they arrive, especially if Fed Ex drops the ball and the delivery gets delayed by a day, but so far that hasn't happened to me (knock on wood). :) Really glad Callie is enjoying her new food. My kitties like bison a lot. It's way more nutritious than beef and probably tastes better too.

I'm still on the road and trying to process this good news. I am so happy to have had this oncologist on board with Ruby's treatment. She's been doing well symptomatically, so the news isn't entirely surprising, but having the radiology report to substantiate what I see going on with her every day makes everything even better. She even gained some weight since the last visit in September, so it's all great. I am very happy. :) She's doing a bit of a bounce from the low she had when she got home from her vet visit but hopefully she will come down again tomorrow. Can't wait to get home and give her a good squish!

Big relief! I always heard remission was shown by lack of symptoms but I think she's been there for a while too. SCL can play with kidney numbers, so that's another good sign that they are down.
I've attached her radiology report, so I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at it, Wendy. She still has a cyst in her liver but her doctor says it's ok. Her adrenal glands are also small, but that's from the steroid. Otherwise it looks pretty good, right?

No measurements of the bowels? With Neko's, I could compare the previous measurements to current one to see progress.
Interesting point. There are images of her colon but it seems no measurements were taken. I don't believe I've ever seen measurements of the colon on any of Ruby's previous ultrasounds. I will request it for the next one.

Such great news about Ruby's ultrasound and bloodwork!! :joyful: :joyful: :joyful: :bighug:
Honestly, I think the raw feeding is an important piece of the puzzle. Without all of the additives in cooked foods, her inflammation is lowered, and her kidneys are doing great as a result as well. Keep eating that raw bison, Callie! You will feel better! :bighug:

Also, I have to give an ENORMOUS shout out to my DBF, who dutifully took the day off to take Ruby to her oncology visit, braved terrible midtown Manhattan traffic and several full to capacity parking lot situations to drag her to the hospital for her exams. I'm Ruby's mom since day one, but Frank inherited my sick cats and he takes such good care of them every single day, testing and feeding and pilling while I am not there. There is no one I trust more and I couldn't be luckier. :)

Katherine you tell Frank that I said he's one good egg :p.
He really is! He is brave to battle that traffic. Thank you Frank for taking such good care of our Ruby! You are one in a million!
Katherine funny story, when I first got my learners permit my dad said come on I'll take you driving. My friend Roseann was in the back seat, so off we go ,what did I know how to get to the city. All of a sudden I realized where we were headed. :arghh:
My dad said If you're going to learn how to drive it's in NYC.
I thought I'd never make it out alive! My girlfriend wished she'd never had taken the ride. That was the last time I ever drove in the city :p
I hope you have a good day Katherine :bighug::bighug:

That is a great story, Diane! People drive pretty aggressively in NYC, no wonder you were scared. It's like throwing a kid into a pool and being told "SWIM!"

Oh Katherine, my heart is filled with joy at this wonderful news. This brought a big smile to my face. I will continue to watch Ruby’s progress and chat with you when you have time. I am definitely one of Ruby’s cheerleaders and Olive as well. You and Frank have done a remarkable job at turning things around snd getting sweet Ruby on a healthy path. Big hugs to you all. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: Thank you for sharing the ultrasound results. I know things are not perfect but so much improvement. You and Frank are a great team and my hero’s.❤️❤️
