https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/11-11-cole-pmps-193-2-140-3-113.238414/ Cole is starting out at 146 this morning - came up for his blood test and eye drops and a cuddle, before bumping me hard for his breakfast. Shot 1.75 - cycle 3. Looking forward to another sunny day with some green! Have a great day everyone
Surf safely Cole And I love hearing about these kitties that come for testing and medicine. I'm over here bribing and begging (but luckily Jax is a good patient) Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth
Cole dropped at +2 to 67, gave him 2 tbs of MC food and will test again in a hour. Hope it gets him back to a nice green today.
Didn't you just reduce recently? And he is wanting another reduction already? Wow. He is really climbing down the dosing ladder! That's a huge drop to +2, definitely test in 30.
I think so - he has always been a little piglet about food, so sometimes it's hard to tell if it's just the regular "I am starving" or the new "my sugar is low" yelling at me... I think this is the sugar is low.. Will test in 5 minutes and go to HC or HC and syrup depending on result.
Let's hope some medium carb - like something around 15% will help him pull up without sending him soaring...honey/karo syrup is too much at this point..you want him to surf...if he'll cooperate... Do you have medium and high carb foods on hand? I was just sharing this pic of Luci's food with another member - this is only the medium and high carb side of her selections - the low carbs are not pictured here.
I think so too - sometimes he just doesn't react the to the MC at all - but it looks like it helped. Thanks for the pic - yes I do have HC and MC - and I need to label everything like you do!
What did you feed him just now to get him to 76? Test again in an hour - it'll only prop him up for a while.
It really helps when you're feeling anxious over those surprising numbers! I just don't have the time/luxury of figuring it out when Luci's numbers are low...she doesn't give me any warning at all when she takes a dive!
Today AMPS 146 * fed LC breakfast * shot 1.75u cycle 3 +2 67 * fed 2 tbs MC +2.5 76 * fed 2 tbs MC, 1 tsp HC
Wow! Colio has some long tipped ears! He's a beauty...what kind of kitty is he? I see...he's a Maine Coon... I see you're in the same city as @Butters & Lyla - nice!
Looks like Cole really wants to drop today. At +3 trending down again at 70, so fed 1 tbs HC Today AMPS 146 * fed LC breakfast * shot 1.75u cycle 3 +2 67 * fed 2 tbs MC +2.5 76 * fed 2 tbs MC, 1 tsp HC +3 70 * fed 1 tbs HC
Actually that's pretty close to 76, close enough in fact that I would have fed another dab of MC - just to keep him surfing. So for next time, keep feeding the MC unless he's really resistant...if he was really resistant the drop would have been like another 20 points...looks like the MC did exactly what you wanted it to do...
Thanks for the advice - it's hard to tell what is a meaningful rise or fall when these numbers are so close. Definitely want to try and keep him with the MC so will try longer the next time.

Nice cycle today . Just curious, do you mean teaspoons for your feeding breakdown, because 2 tablespoons each time is maybe just a wee bit too much food

Hi Christie - it has been hard to tell the right amount because he is so hungry. I'll start with 1 tablespoon, and then he will cry for more. It didn't seem to send his blood sugar way up - but I'm still learning. What should I be concerned about? I'm using tbs for tablespoon and tsp for teaspoon so I can keep track of quantity.
Oh all good, that's just a lot of calories, but he's a Maine Coon, so naturally husky , keep doing what your doing, but perhaps keep an eye on his weight. Might be worth double checking what his daily recommended intake should be and seeing if you might be overfeeding. https://www.petplace.com/article/cats/pet-health/how-to-calculate-your-cats-daily-calorie-intake/
