Good Afternoon Everyone! I hope your weekend is a good one. I promised myself that today, no matter what, I would get a condo up and running. There have been "events", and home repairs, DH and DD news, and DGS's news and Kitteh news too. All good stuff , except for maybe the home repairs part...:arghh:

Rest assured that our resident L&LL Kitteh barista, Vanessa, has been on the job every morning. There sure are alot of apples, and pumpkins, and caramel squares going into her kitchen, something to do with apple and caramel infused mochas, and pumpkin spice lattes. The :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee: MUST be delivered she says. Paw Prints Pizza is busy doing their thing too, lots of pies needed for OTJ parties, and for the upcoming Super Full Moon Party. Paw Prints Pizza has a new creation, Pumpkin Spiced Catnip Crusted Pizza. Between apples and pumpkins and caramel, and catnip pizza crust, and the mochas and all that pizza, the house sure smells good! Paw Prints Pizza is feverishly working on the "Big Holiday" pies, busy with peppermint and gingerbread and cranberries and all sorts of things. Vanessa is so pumped about being able to make things with all that peppermint. Guess she really loves peppermint mochas.: just like her bean. Vanessa just handed me her blog entry for today, so here goes....
"LL! It's is I, Vanessa, president and CEO of The Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! Bug and Lola, Co-CEO's of Paw Prints Pizza are open, and ready for business! Lots of kitteh treats in them pies, tuna, chicken and shrimps! And that Pumpkin Spice Pie is pure purrfection! All on their signature catnip crust. It is mega good. They also have a dessert berry pie, lots of whip cream to holds it all together. So.... order early, and party hearty! I have been very busy this weekend too! My special for today is a coffee infused 4 berry and caramel frappe, mainly because I love Fall, but still wish it was summer! It is mega good, I swear! So..... Coffee time! :coffee::coffee::coffee: For today, I proudly offer Vanessa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and triple shot espressos, with beans from Starbucks Pike Place Market, their original blend, AND.... for all my Mocha fans: : a Venti quad dutch apple infused white mocha, with caramel whip, garnished with caramelized apple clusters, white chocolate shavings and a caramel drizzle...... SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of apple and vanilla and chocolate and caramel swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, sprinkled with crystallized apple bits and a chocolate caramel drizzle......SWEET! I still remembers how Elsa loved her ice cream on top of those mochas. Vanessa's bakery is all stocked for today too: baguettes and croissants and donut holes, including my signature berry jams. I have a new one: watermelon! Just cuz I still wish it was summer... They too is mega goods. I made them myself! :cat:"

Vanessa, Lola and Bug are well. There really is not much new with them. As the days go by Bug continues to remind me, of late more so, of Mannie. Mannie always visited me every morning once I got up, and attempted that get it together look in the bathroom. He'd sit and watch and make sure I didn't look freaky. :p Bug continues to visit me everyone morning, just like Mannie, and we share head buts and chin scritches and pets. It's a really nice time. Vanessa continues to be the matriarch of the group, and more or less rules the house. Somehow she has managed to keep our wild eyes crazy kitty Lola in line, most of the time. She is still the keeper of the nanners, a tradition passed onto her by Mannie. I have no doubt on that. The way she handles them is just like Mannie. It is ever so fun to watch her carry them from room to room. Recently she has started sleeping on them, another Mannie-ism. She continues to be my evening on my lap kitty, she will curl up there and purr and purr and purr. I secretly think she is trying to butter me up so she can have more kitty treats. She LOVES kitty treats. Many a time during the evening she will come and sit by me and just meow and paw at me until I get up and give her a treat or two. In the past month or so this has escalated to the afternoons too, if I am home. She has also discovered that DH knows where those treats are, and will con him into getting them for he. Ever the softie, DH is. Lola is ... well..... LOLA! She has mellowed out some, but still is our feisty lets just go for it, anything, and have fun kitty. She remains our escape artist, managing to bolt through any opening offered. A few Caturdays ago I had gone off to get coffee, and off to the store after that. When I can home, there was Lola, rolling in the dirt in the front yard.:eek::eek::eek: I have no clue how long she had been out there, never did see her escape. I must find her cloak of invisibility! We have also had another early morning escape where she bolted out when I was loading the car for an adventure day with Nicholas and William. This time it was wet and muddy out...:rolleyes::stop:, she was a mess... :arghh::facepalm::rolleyes: and once captured it took her forever to clean up. :joyful::joyful::joyful:;) She was one happy kitteh. Lola has also taken to being my nighttime sleep buddy. She has not missed a night in the past month. I will go to bed, and she will come and curl up next to me, under my chin, and purr and purr and purr. So calm, and relaxed without a hint of that wild and crazy and feisty girl that rules during the day. It has become one of my favorite times. Thanks Lola, you are one special kitty. Halloween came and went, and the kitties enjoyed the time, especially Lola, who discovered pumpkins are really GOOD! It has been a good few week for Lola, Bug and Vanessa. Normalcy rules in Three MusketeerVille! :cat::cat::cat:
So...... Catio Update!!! I finally bit the bullet so to speak, and called a local company that builds catios. They are well known in the area, and builds several enclosures for rescue agencies, and shelters, as well as home owners. Their designer has been out, measured and photo'd and calculated and analyzed. So now we wait on what she comes up with, based on my input on what I hope for. They are in the midst of building an extensive wildlife habitat for PAWS, a local shelter that also specializes in wildlife rehabilitation, so I told her I wasn't in a hurry, and can wait until she has had time to consult with her builder, as I do have a few "tricky" areas.:smuggrin: Our design will hopefully be as follows: I have a large front room picture window (2nd floor, about 6 feet off the ground), 12 feet in length, floor to ceiling, with two small slider window openings each side. The catio access will be there, with a covered, wire sided window box perch/enclosure approximately 2 feet high and wide, to run the length of the window, amongst the foliage that is there. There will be an opening on one end, giving the kitties access to a run tunnel, that goes around the corner of the house, and runs the length of the house. At the end of the run tunnel with be a covered ceiling catio, 8X8X8, with perches and branches and ramps for our little escape artist. And Vanessa and Bug too. Can we say $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ??:eek::eek::eek::eek: I do have to laugh though: it is as if Lola, Bug and Vanessa know something is coming. All three of them sit by that window, any window actually, and look and sniff when they are open, and wait. Anticipation I think. so.... Hopefully with the next post/condo I can say we are under construction, once I have "robber the local bank":smuggrin::smuggrin::smuggrin: I am really excited that we can hopefully move forward with this, they can be outside, and I no longer have to worry....

DH update: As of his last appt in October, there was no evidence of cancer, seems the chemo and the surgery took care of it. Excellent news, He will be back in the oncologist office February 2017 for another scan to be sure that continues to be the case, and we can say cancer-free with even more confidence! His recovery from the surgery ordeal, and the chemo, really took a toll, and his recovery has been very slow. He is up and about, but still tires very easily. He continues to walk daily out doors when weather permits. With our typical fall wet weather we are looking at other ways to keep him up and walking. He has yet to return to driving anywhere, as he wants to have his cataract surgery done so he can see better, before driving again. With the cancer we had to put that on hold until he had been though chemo and surgery. That appt is set for 12/8. He continues to see his PCP monthly, to monitor recurring anemia, pulmonary function, neurology issues, and cardio things as well. This past month he began seeing a pulmonary specialist to try and improve lung function. He has added the recommendation of pulmonary therapy in an effort to improve stamina, and energy levels. It was eye opening in a sense to see the before and after X-Rays of his lungs. He really is missing alot of the right lung, one entire lobe and a small portion of the lower one. We hope that the pulmonary therapy will improve the functionality of what is there. All Appts have gone well. So.... We keep on truckin'!

DD Update: Last week my DD underwent hernia repair surgery. This is the second one in 8 months, so thiss go around was a bit more involved as far as repair went. She is now the proud owner of a mesh insert to hopefully hold the area together better. These hernias are located near the naval, and a "side effect" of child birth. Poor Erin! But she recovered well, still is, despite an ongoing pain and nausea issue. Seems that the pains meds, Oxycontin, was causing the nausea. Once she stopped that, in day two of recovery, she felt much better, no more nausea, and surprisingly, the pain lessened considerably. No more Oxycontin for her, ever. She is back to work now, half days to start, full days this upcoming week. I found this heart-warming, Nicholas and William knew mom had surgery and that they had to be careful with her, ie, no jumping on mom, no "love head butts, etc. They had spent two nights on a sleepover with me, so mom could recover, and once home, they were the best ever boys. Nicholas and William got up in the morning, made their beds, cleaned up their room and their play area, got themselves dressed, and made their breakfast. WTG guys!

Nicholas and William Update: This fall Nicholas started Kindergarten.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: OMG!, and where has time gone! So far he really loves kindergarten, is excited to go to school everyday. He is in an all day Kindergarten, and has handled the transition to all day school five days a week extremely well. In addition to basic Kindergarten curriculum, his school also focuses on the technology (he has computer labs twice a week), music classes twice a week, Spanish class once a week (Hola! he says! :joyful:), art and PE. He is having the best of times! His favorite so far, probably a duh (!!) is the three (yes three) recesses! :woot::joyful::smuggrin::smuggrin: And Computer Tech labs, he loves that class. He recently had his first parent teacher conference, and had an very good report. His teacher says he is showing an advanced understanding of mathematics, and plans on offering him additional challenges in that area as the year progresses. He has also taken rather well the the art curriculum they use. YAY, an artist! We've all noticed a dramatic improvement in his drawings. This Fall William has started preschool. OMG again, and where has time gone! He goes on Tuesday and Thursday, for three hours each day. He is also so excited to be in school, as he says: "just like Nicky!" He is doing well there, no separation anxiety, and literally runs to class once he is at the front door. Both boys have grown so much socially, making new friends right and left. It is so nice to see our shy little William making friends on his own, and interacting now with other children. We have adjusted to the new schedule, and having Nicholas in school all day, and William gone part of the day. That does give me some additional free time, which somehow I managed to fill with this and that, no problem... It is so odd for me to have both boys in school. I now have those TH morning hours free, and hope to also fill it with some of my own pool times, focusing on river walks. It has been an adjustment having Nicholas in school all day, I really miss having him around. William does too, but he also at the same time really loves having Grammie, and our adventures, all to himself.

Our adventures continue, as much as this new school thing allows us to do. This past week, Nicholas had three off days, due to no school for parent/teacher conferences. Needless to day we filled them all, with all sorts of adventures. I let Nicholas plan each day, since it has been a while since he could do any of them. WHAT FUN! We visited the Pacific Science Center, did a few pool swims, went to City Park, and Juanita Beach Park. Friday we were off on a river adventure, up to the Skykomish River near Gold Bar, with a picnic near the banks of the river. I am ever so grateful that the weather cooperated, giving us temps in the low 60's. Juanita beach found them swimming and enjoying the water. They even made a few into the river to get wet trips when we were up in Gold Bar. Here it is mid-November and those two boys are in swimsuits, playing in the river!:rolleyes::joyful:WOW, what a great mini vacation for Nicholas. He was one happy boy. William was so thrilled this past Thursday, as Nicholas was able to take him to school. Such smiles! Nicholas loved to go back and visit his teacher from last year. What a fun morning for both boys. When their mom had her surgery I had them on a sleepover for the two nights following her surgery. We took advantage of the extra free time to take Nicholas to Wilcox Park followed by a pig-out at DQ on the way h0me, and the Seattle Aquarium on that Saturday. Of course a trip there also meant time at the Waterfront Park, for fun, and ice cream, and a ride on the great Wheel. It has been insanely busy, but a homerun on the fun scale. I can remember back to summer, when Nicholas was so worried, and mildly upset, that he would no longer be able to visit these places, due to school. I told him we would make every effort to go when he didn't have school. It is nice to see that we have been able to make most of that happen for him. He is very happy in school, and now that he knows he can still do other things, well... life is very good for him. It is also very good for William, who now has some "freedom" and is growing into an independent, able to make new friends, young boy, and still maintain the already established bond with his brother.

Nicholas and William are still swimming, and have started the fall scheduling for Swim lessons, and free fun swim play time. William began swim lessons this past August, and just loves them. Energizer fishie #2 in training! He is having such fun with it, is a bit timid with it all, but says he LOVES swim class. They are now in late afternoon classes, Mondays and Wednesday, with some free time after lessons to just have fun. I was so glad we have been able to make that extra time after lessons happen. Nicholas is ever the energizer fishie, and I hope somehow to find more pool time for him, as he really loves it all. One of the senior instructors approached me his first day of fall session, asked how hold he was, and when I told her just 5 1/2, she was amazed at how good he is being as young as he is. She made it a point to tell me about swim team.... ;) Well, we will see how this all pans out, and if Nicholas decides he wants to go on that path, more power too him. I think he'd make an excellent swimmer. This is so cool: Nicholas has now grown enough (req: 48" tall) that he can ride the big green water slide, where one takes inner tubes down for the ride. That is a blast! The pool folks also let William ride the blue slide, his first ever time riding solo on a water slide. OMG, he couldn't get enough of that, and rode it over and over again. What an awesome afternoon for them both. We hope to be able to do this again on Nicholas's next half day.:joyful: We continue to swim on Friday Nights at the Snohomish pool, for just pure fun. It is such a wonderful fun pool. Both boys love it there, view Friday night as a special treat. and of course we are still doing the post swim Friday Night Burger Feast! Duh.... ;):cool: Without a doubt SWIMMING RULES!!! As always, we are grateful for our time in the pool. It has all enabled to boys to explore another aspect of growing up, one they really enjoy. It has just become the norm for us, we go each week, and just never tire of it. It proves to be such fun for both boys, and their excitement with it all has not wavered.
GO NICHOLAS! GO WILLIAM !! [IMG][IMG]

For my own time I continue to hike the local trails: Meadowdale (salmon videos in here!), Mesika, Bug Gulch, Edmonds Marina, Scriber Lake, Picnic Point, and whatever else I can find in whatever free time I can muster. It is nice to have local options, a small mini out in the woods hikes! It is that time of year when the salmon begin their annual run in the creek that runs through Meadowdale Park. That has proven to be an exciting one this year. Each trek down there gives me several sightings. Yesterday I was able to natch a pair spawn, while also having the male fend of another male who wanted part of the action.;) During one Seattle trip I took time to walk though Freeway Park. It is a really nice urban park. Due to timing and appts and busy days with the boys, and bad weather, etc I haven't been able to do much hiking outside of the local stuff. With snows now in those mountains we shift our fall and winter hiking to the lowlands, and hope for some excellent fall weather and time to get some fall hiking in before the weather really gets wetter and colder.... :)

    Home repair update:
Shesshhhhhh! Last week we had a major repair to the sewer line. :arghh::confused::eek::arghh::arghh::blackeye:o_O:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.... Fun times. NOT! Over the course of the past year I have had maybe three or four instances where the downstairs toilet would have a water overflow, water only. It would happen for three days, then stop, not recurring until a couple of months later. After the last one, and some not so nice words on my part :rolleyes::rolleyes: I decided to call a sewer company and have them camera scope my line. wow.... I had tree roots that had punched holes in two spots, and a bellied line near the house, which was causing all sorts of issues. So, in the interest of having a free flowing line, we repaired all problems, and now have what should be a problem free line for several years to come. PAWS CROSSED!!! and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to say the least. it's only money, right?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:o_O;)

Have a great Weekend everyone! It is rather low-key here... I spent Caturday catching on home duties, and managed a local walk, early in the day before the ongoing storms and WIND and RAIN waves hit. I did do a trip in the woods to the shore mid afternoon. That was nice, love how it can be so peaceful in the woods, even when WET. Had to watch the salmon run! :):):) It has been raining all day here today.... I so hope it will stop, just for a few, so I can get in a woods walk, maybe even the beach. Paws crossed! Have a great week everyone!

Michelle - so glad to see a condo from you! The catio sounds really neat. I love the window access and the catio room itself sounds like it will be loads of fun. Is there bean access from the outside? I can hardly wait for the pictures. I expect Lola will be the first in there. :p Great photos of her tummy, she is one relaxed kitteh. As always, I love the classic Bug pics.

That was a good update on your DH. This continual rainy weather has made it hard to get much walking doe outdoors. My DF is having the same issue. Walking inside just isn't the same. I hope the pulmonary brings improvements soon. Vines also to Erin. That was quite an ordeal to go through and she must have been glad to have a bit of boy-free time when she first got home.

William in preschool - how did that happen? Wasn't he just an infant? :p The boys sure are growing up fast. This month has been really warm, but I don't think I'd be swimming in the river with a bathing suit. Brr!

Ugh on the sewer repairs. Didn't you have water main issues not that long ago? Why does it always happen in the winter.:arghh:

Hey Michelle, Did you say you were busy???
What a great condo, and what great pics! The kitties look wonderful. That shot of Lola looks just like a shot I have of Rusty, who used to like to lie on his back (now that he has gotten skinny, I think it is painful for him). Looks like Lola and Bug are READY for the Full Beaver Moon Party tomorrow night. I think they'll be making some of their newest pizzas. Yes? The pumpkin pizza sounds lovely. Vanessa, Kitteh Barista, the espresso has been incredibly good. Thank you for your daily deliveries.

The boys look like they have both grown in the last month or so. How neat that school is a success and that there is still time for fun days with Grammie and for the pools.

Glad to hear that your DH is cancer free. I hope his appointments will go well so that he can get his eyes fixed and begin driving again. Sorry to hear that Erin had another hernia. Healing vines for her!

The catio sounds fantastic. Those kitties will be thrilled!

It is so great to see this condo. I have to look at your picture albums later and am looking forward to the videos of salmon spawning.

    Hugs and scritches,

    Ella & Rusty

Michelle it's great to see an update and hear everyone is doing well overall. Sorry your DD had to have the surgery, but I'm glad she's recovering well. I'm glad your DH is still doing well and the boys are enjoying school and swimming. Nice that you have been able to get out on some hikes.

Cool on the catio. I'm sure the kitties will love it. I'm glad they are all doing well too.

@Wendy&Neko Hi Wendy! :coffee::coffee::coffee: AH thanks on the catio. It has been a long time coming, but I am excited to be able to do something for the Three Musketeers. No all I need is to hear back from the catio lady. ;) And yes on the bean access from the outside. The big enclosure will have a human size door, for easy access, and so we can spend time with them once they are in it. The run and window box also has access from several "doors" that are placed along the run, so we can get to them if need be. I am excited for the run portion of this, I think Lola will love that part. She is such a runner. The enclosure is on the backside of the house, with lots to see, and observe, from squirrels to birds and other four legged creatures.:smuggrin: THX too on the pics. I need to take more... :) THX too on DH. It is hard to get walk time in for him, just as you say: the weather isn't helping, and walking indoors is not the same! THX too on my DD. She is recovering well, spoke with her DR today, and he is pleased with her progress. All is well there. LOL on William.... so agreed! Where does the time go! Nicholas will be 6 in a month and a half! OMG, and YES on that river swimming.... I kept telling them the river was COLD, but they were determined,. not too surprised that they didn't stay in long. Shirts were back on quickly. :joyful: Right you are on the sewer mess. We had a HUGE drainage system repair (the whole system, as it was root clogged and broken, hence our potential for flooding indoors) , along with the water line about 3 or so years ago, and another part of the sewer repaired right after that. NOT FUN! :arghh: This time we did the entire sewer line, so should be, in theory, good to go. Paws are for sure crossed.

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) Hi Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee: Busy? What's that???:joyful::joyful::joyful: THX on the condo and the pics. Lola will lay like that often, Bug once in a Blue Mannie Moon, Vanessa never. It cracks me up every time I find her that way. Silly cat. Lola, Bug and Vanessa are all set for the party. Paw Prints has been working very hard to make those pies good. Vanessa has been their taste tester, and gives them four paws up. :joyful: :) YUPP, they plan on making there new creations. Vanessa says the pumpkin one is particularly good. She's been predicting her pumpkin spice mocha, with pumpkin whip I hear.:cool: I think so on Nicholas and William. I was commenting on that the other day with both of them. Nicholas will be a tall one, just like mom and dad, with William hot on his heals. Both boys loved Nicholas's mini vacation. We had so much fun! I was so glad that Nicholas got some time to do some of the things he just can't as often as he used too now that he is in school. he was so thrilled. THX on DH, and his health. it has been a long haul, but slowly things are getting back to "normal" for him. Being cancer free continues to be a big one. he is thrilled too that he can now get his eyes taken care off, so he can see better. THX on DD, all is getting well there too. PAWS CROSSED on the catio! I am excited, and hope that soon we will have some place outdoors for Lola in particular to go when I am not home, which is often. She will be able to get out when she wants, so we really hope this will take care of some of her escape antics. I hope you enjoy the salmon videos. They are in the Meadowdale album, just look for the little arrow, upper corner I think, indicating video. That link has the chum salmon, this link here has the Coho, from October this year: Meadowdale and Coho Salmon

@Gussie's mom HI! :coffee::coffee::coffee: Many thanks on the catio. paws crossed that this will come to be sooner than later. LOL on your adding one and camouflaging it. Whatever works, huh! Must be a little frustrating not to be able to do that. I see a cause, to add catios to the things you can do in your condo, in your future!

@carfurby Hi Carla :coffee::coffee::coffee: Many thanks! Yupp, everyone is doing well. DH is still in an expected recovery mode, and DD is almost back to her normal self. it was a bit more involved this time for her, but she is recovering well. THX too on the hikes - it is my "me time" so I really make sure I get something in, even if it is just a local one. They have proven to be good too.Paws are crossed on the catio. I know Lola will be into it, I hope the same for Bug and Vanessa. Neither of them have ever wanted to go out, but I think having access to a window box will be much to their liking. :)

    Hi again, Michelle,
Those salmon videos are amazing. Are the Coho larger than the Chum? They look bigger on the film.

I forgot to comment on your sewer line. BUMMER! Last year we had a leak in the waste pipe from the 2nd floor, so lots of wall on both floors had to be ripped out to fix it. But your problem was much more serious. I remember last year when your bed was surrounded by water during one of those storms. Hopefully all will be just fine now.

Rusty says to tell Bug, Lola and Vanessa to bring lots of pizzas and beverages for the gang. It's going to be a great party, on the Beaver River again.

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) Good Morning Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee: Thanks on the Videos. The Coho in the second video link are about the same size and the chum. They are huge this year, the Coho. Normally they run a bit smaller, at least what we get here locally. We don't usually get alot of Coho, so the abundance of them this year was really a treat. It has, so far, been a great run this year for both of them. I love the fact that it is all so close to home. oh my goodness on your waste line leak. That is awful. I feel for you, having had to do the same in the past. Never any fun to rip out walls.... LOL, and YES on when we had the "lake" in our basement. I will never ever forget that. (I still remember thinking back then how it reminded me of your basement issues a few years ago, and the kitties and their daily bucket brigade :) ) For us, that time the drainage system here had "failed" and we ended up replacing alot of the line. The expense on that was horrific, right up there with this latest sewer line repair/replacement. We had had such rains that year, to the point where the ground was over saturated, we had a failed system and in came the water. Hopefully the new line there, and new water line, and now sewer line, we are good to go for a long time. Paws are crossed!!!
Auntie Ella, and Rusty! We are SO READY for the party! Paw Prints ovens are a-cookin' , my espresso machine is a-brewin' , and we are almost packed, ready to go. I can't wait to be back on the Beaver River. What a grand party! See ya soon! ~~ Vanessa, kitteh barista, and Bug and Vanessa, Paw Prints Pizza

@Vyktors Mum Hi Serryn :coffee::coffee::coffee: Me too on the cancer free stuff, going on almost 8 months now since the surgery. Right you are, it has been one huge ordeal, one we hope will soon be behind us. Therapies to go, but he is getting there. DD thanks you for the well wishes. She is doing much better, still a little sore, but doing well. It will be a huge relief once we get the finalized plans and can move forward on the catio. I so look forward to it all. I have no doubt Lola will love it, especially the run part. The other two may discover a whole new world out there, even though we were told when we adopted Bug that he was a stray, and had been for five years. Vanessa has never ever been out. Ought to be interesting. :) AH yes on those eyes... Bug is a heart melter for sure. Lola is just plain crazy, in a good way.
Auntie Serryn! One pumpkin pie pizza on it's wat... We put extra nip in it Purrdy. MEGA GOOD! ~~ Lola, and Bug
