Should I be concerned or is this just something that happens occasionally? He threw up a large quantity around pm +1 but seems okay today. Ketones are 0.4 on the NovaMax which I believe is normal.

This morning I did two blood monitor checks against the Libre sensor. The Libre sensor said 334, the Libre blood strip showed 265 and the NovaMax blood strip showed 317 (same blood draw). So I'm going with the 317. Any ideas why the Libre blood strip is significantly different from the sensor and the NovaMax reader?

Not an expert! But I did use the Libre the few 2 weeks of Gus’ diagnosis.

I learned that the libre monitors interstitial glucose instead of blood glucose, has about a 15 minute delay, I believe. So the meter tests will be ‘real time’ readings. Then there’s always the ~20% variance that happen for each meter to consider. In 15mins or so, they could almost be the same number. I’m not familiar with the NovaMax however, so can’t comment on that one.

Thank you both for the response. Yes, he is coming down now and fast. Keeping an eye on it.

As for the throwing up, does that happen with diabetes or is that probably unrelated?

It doesn’t happen often, but there has been 2-3 morning that I’ve woken up to vomit .. I chalked it up to be that he was extra hungry. You know that nausea feeling when you haven’t eaten in a while and feel a bit sick? Added that to a diabetic and it might cause that. I started setting an alarm to give him a small snack 3 hours before insulin time in the (oh so early AM) to tide him over and it seems to have cleared that situation up.

But in your case, it was at +1, can I assume you feed with insulin? Maybe he ate too fast? One time might not be an issue but if it continues, I’d bring it up again (poor choice of words, lol).

Yes, he eats right before the insulin injection so maybe he ate too fast. He did seem hungrier than usual. He throws up a large amount about once a month so I was curious if it was diabetes-related. The vets have not found any reasons for this.
