It was a rough couple of days. On Nov 14 when we were getting into bed and having our usual snuggle I noticed a small bump on the bottom left side of Indi's jaw just below his lip. I immediately panicked and was up all night.
We called the vet first thing in the morning and they were able to squeeze us in at 230. Basically he said it is too small and firm for biopsy so he believes the best course is to watch and wait. I was worried it could be infection/abscess from his teeth and he said no he teeth look ok. I had my fingers crossed for better news but I'll take what I can get. I'm not panicking anymore but still watching him like a hawk, its just so scary not knowing and I immediately think the worst. I think I might be annoying him with too many chin scritches
I guess because we were in last minute we saw a different vet than last time which ended up being a happy accident! He asked if I wanted to run fructosamine while I was there and I was like nope and left it at that I just didn't want to get into it with yet another vet especially when I was already upset. He asked what his numbers had been like lately and I was surprised, told him his averages and he asked me...whatcha looking at? He spent a few minutes looking at Indi's sheet and loved it! He was very very supportive of home testing, actually said how would you know how he is doing without testing?!? Agreed that his numbers are still too high, the last vet said he was great when he was higher than he has been lately. He asked about his diet and asked why we decided to feed raw, he saw my face when he asked and said that it was an honest question no judgement. We had a great discussion and he was good with it! No lecture!
I explained about my last experience at the clinic and he was very upset that I had been told I was "traumatizing" my cat for no reason and also said he would be having a conversation with their surgical team about his teeth, they refused to touch him because he's diabetic. I wouldn't go to them anyway if they are not comfortable but I appreciated his response. We chatted for almost 30 minutes and will be seeing him only from now on.
PS He said Indi was one of the best kitties he had seen in a long time! He was such a good boy, so brave and so calm! He let him check him really well and carry him all over to get looked at! I'm a very proud Momma
