Ruby ate all of her food last night with the lysine and I watched her eat most of her breakfast so hopefully that will keep her sniffles at bay. The powder smells very fishy so I bet she likes that.
We have another blue start so hopefully she will see some green today.

That’s interesting. My cats haven’t had the FVRCP vaccines, at least not that I can remember. Ruby was just at the oncologist last week so it’s no wonder that she is sick. She also had an eye infection a few months ago so she has the herpes virus. My poor girl has been at the vet nearly every single month for the past six months so she’s been exposed to a lot of cooties. Good to know about famciclovir. I’ll ask for it next time she has a severe cold. I would try the Viralys powder and see if it works. Cats seem to take to the taste of it well.Bama Kitty's vet usually prescribes Famciclovir in 50 mg. tablets. Instructions are to give 1/2 tablet every 8 hours for 5 days then twice daily for 10 days. He usually responds to it within 5 days. I have been known to dose him for 6 or 7 days and keep the rest for the next go around. Vet says it is viral. He first came down with it 2 years ago within a couple weeks of having been at the vet's office and receiving the FVRCP vaccine in his right shoulder which caused a giant [quarter-sized] scab to appear on his leg. Scared me to death when I found it. Apparently, he had a reaction to that vaccine which is supposed to protect against feline respiratory diseases such as viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia. So, naturally I wonder if the vaccine didn't start the whole problem.![]()
